LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: '90210' alum AnnaLynne McCord has been open about her experiences with child abuse and sexual assault.
She earlier revealed details about that terrible night and how her on-again, off-again boyfriend Dominic Purcell helped her in ways she never imagined possible.
Recently, the '90210' star has spoken candidly about the "lightbulb moment" that helped her overcome her nearly fatal case of dissociative identity disorder.
This moment came after one of her personas, a 13-year-old version of herself, expressed her desire to take her life.
The 36-year-old actress initially revealed in April 2021 that she had been diagnosed with a mental illness, which she said was brought on by a traumatic sexual experience as a child.
She battled five separate alter egos for years and suffered from terrible suicidal thoughts, which have "largely disappeared" since she sought therapy in 2017, as reported by Daily Mail.
AnnaLynne McCord and Dominic Purcell had on-off relationship for 10 years
'Prison Break' actor Dominic Purcell had a history with the 36-year-old 'Scorned' actor McCord before he fell for Miley Cyrus' mother.
According to People, McCord and Purcell began dating in July 2011 and split in December 2014. Later, she told the outlet that she would always adore the actor and that they would "always be in each other's lives."
Following Purcell's skin cancer diagnosis a little over a year later, the couple resumed their romance. She claimed to be glad to have her "best friend" back at the moment and to be there for him.
The '90210' alum said on the 'Allegedly' podcast at the time, "I came back into his life as his friend, and I took him to his doctor's appointments and I was there with him because whether or not he realized it, I love him," per People.
They broke up again in January 2018 (as per Yahoo!) and later reignited their romance in September 2020 after being seen snuggling on a beach.
But she revealed in her interview with 'Bare' that even though they aren't together anymore, he would always be "her person" and that they are like "family."
Dominic Purcell 'was a mirror back' to AnnaLynne McCord
Following her sexual assault, McCord earlier told Bare that prior to meeting Purcell, she began "going through severe panic attacks and started to undergo PTSD treatment," adding that she "couldn't feel anything."
However, her relationship with the actor led to a complete change in her life.
In a candid interview with Giddy’s Marisa Sullivan, McCord stated that Purcell "was a mirror back to me," and that "Dom created space for me, but he called me the f–k out, he did not take bulls–t, and that’s why I trusted him. I trusted no masculine energies, I trusted no men."
"Because I figured, ‘I’m going to push every f–king button that you have, and if you cave, I can’t trust you.'” But Purcell "changed everything," McCord added, per Page Six.
Furthermore, McCord reportedly accompanied Purcell when the actor, 53, needed more than 150 stitches in his head after a near-fatal accident occurred on the 'Prison Break' set in 2016.
Regarding her relationship with Purcell, McCord adds: "There was a sexual aspect that was underlying, that was pulling us … and we had explosive sex." According to McCord's Giddy chat, the on/off pair is currently not together.
