DIXON, KENTUCKY: Tammy Slaton, known for her appearance on TLC's show 1000-Lb Sisters, has faced a challenging year. However, she remains determined and committed to her weight loss goals.
At her heaviest, she weighed 717 pounds, which prompted her doctor to advise reaching a goal weight of at least 550 pounds to be eligible for bariatric surgery. Tammy surpassed this goal while staying at a rehabilitation center in Ohio and has continued her weight loss journey even after undergoing the life-saving surgery.
What is Tammy Slaton's current weight?
At her recent clinic visit on July 6, Tammy was in for a pleasant surprise when she discovered she had shed even more weight than she realized. According to a source, "Tammy thought she weighed 370 pounds," but after "Tammy went to a rehab center last Thursday and got weighed. She actually lost more than she had thought. She's down to 334 and doing awesome." Her progress is commendable, and she continues to push forward without any setbacks since returning home to Kentucky.
Concerns arose among fans when Tammy's estranged husband, Caleb Willingham, passed away in late June, fearing it could potentially derail her progress. The couple met while both undergoing treatment at the same rehab facility and got married after a whirlwind engagement. However, challenges emerged when Tammy returned home while Caleb remained at the medical center.
'Her decision, not mine. It was more than that!'
It was revealed that Caleb failed to file the necessary paperwork to transfer to a clinic closer to Tammy's home, causing frustration and strain on their relationship. His lack of motivation to continue losing weight ultimately contributed to their separation. In a now-deleted social media post, Caleb confirmed their separation, stating "If you were only here for my wife, then please delete me now. We are married by paper only right now. Her decision, not mine. It was more than that."
Tragically, Caleb gained 30 pounds over the following months, and on June 30, his death was confirmed. In a heartfelt TikTok video, Tammy emotionally expressed her love for Caleb and her deep grief over his loss, thanking everyone for their support and kind words. "Yeah, we were having problems, but I loved that man, and I still do," said Tammy. "I miss him like crazy ... Thank you, everybody, for your comments, I appreciate it, I really do."
