What is ‘Hope Is A Rainbow’ all about?
‘Hope Is A Rainbow’ is a heartwarming children's book authored by Hoda Kotb. This delightful book, inspired by her daughter, Hope Catherine, beautifully portrays the power of hope in the face of life's challenges. Through vivid illustrations and a touching narrative, the book takes young readers on a journey filled with optimism, kindness, and love. It emphasizes the importance of embracing hope as a guiding light, even during the darkest times. Who is the inspiration behind Hoda Kotb’s new book?
Drawing inspiration from her youngest daughter, Hope Catherine, whom she adopted in 2019, Hoda Kotb found the perfect muse for her third children's book. Kotb reveals at the age of four, Hope fearlessly learned to ride a bike without training wheels during the summer. Kotb dedicates the book, ‘Hope Is A Rainbow’, to her daughter, describing her as a generous and kind-hearted girl who “will always give away her last blueberry.” The book is set to release in March 2024 and it beautifully conveys the significance of optimism and maintaining a positive outlook in life. While describing her book, Kotb said, “My daughter Hope is so inspiring to me. She’s a little child, but with a real kind of old spirit, an old soul. There’s something about her in how she sees magic in everything.” She also shared a glimpse into Hope’s personality as she revealed that her 4-year-old is drawn to rainbows since she was a baby. She said, “A rainbow to me represents something that you can’t quite touch, but it’s magical and amazing. So when I thought about how I carry Hope in my heart, I realized, ‘She IS a rainbow.’ She’s this beautiful, magical, incredible child. It just got me thinking about all the things where kids find magic and hope, and this book is full of that.”
The book is illustrated by Chloe Dominque which playfully depicts Kotb’s daughters, Haley with her signature glasses and Hope wearing purple butterfly wings. In the book, Kobt writes, “Hope is a feeling … It’s finding your smile after wearing a frown … and realizing YOU can turn things around. It’s solving a problem and thinking it through. Anything’s possible when you believe in YOU.” Although Kotb shared that she wrote the book over a year ago, Hope has taught her more about Hope than she expected.
