LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Nearly two years after Bob Saget's unexpected death, his widow Kelly Rizzo has admitted that she is open to finding love once more and is no longer plagued by guilt about the idea.
Actor, host, and executive producer Rizzo admitted to Daily Mail that although she had trouble at first to "process" moving on with someone else, she has already reached a point where she is at ease with the thought of falling in love again.
After working in real estate for five years, Rizzo started the web series 'Eat Travel Rock' TV in 2013, where she conducts interviews with chefs, celebrities, and others. She was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, but now resides in Los Angeles.
Rizzo is expected to make an appearance in the second season of 'Special Forces' besides 'Dance Moms' star JoJo Siwa, 20, Jack Osbourne, 37, and Savannah Chrisley, 26.
After receiving a message from Saget on Instagram, Rizzo and he met in 2015. In 2017, the couple announced their engagement, and they got married the following year.
On January 9, 2022, the 44-year-old actress became a widow after the 65-year-old 'Full House' star died in his Florida hotel room from an unusual head injury, only hours after exiting the stage of a stand-up performance.
Kelly Rizzo opens up about finding love after Bob Saget's death
Speaking about finding love after Saget's untimely death, Rizzo told the outlet: "In the first year, I couldn't even process what that would be like. And you get to a point where you're like, alright, this is something that I could see."
"And what's interesting is, there was a long period of time where I would almost feel guilty for even thinking about it."
Rizzo admitted that she used to worry a lot about what "earthly" Saget would say if she moved on, but she has since learned to let go of those thoughts.
"You get to a point where you separate what earthly Bob would have been like. And he would have been like, "You can't move on! How dare you! How could you!" Rizzo added.
She continued: "But when I hear his friends and family say, 'No, he would want you to be happy,' and when you get to that point, then you feel at peace with that happening."
Saget died at the age of 65, a day after his stand-up gig, on January 9, 2022. He was discovered dead in his Ritz-Carlton hotel room in Orlando, Florida, with what was determined to be an unintentional "blunt head trauma."
Kelly Rizzo's personal journey with grief was 'really tough'
Speaking candidly about her own experience with bereavement, Rizzo said she is doing "really great."
She remarked, "The first year was really, really, really tough. And then after, like, one year passes, after you've had all of those firsts; like the first Christmas, the first, anniversary."
"The second one's still not easy, but you're used to it more. So, you're like, "Oh, alright, I've been here before," Rizzo added.
Kelly stated that she still keeps in touch with Saget's three kids, Aubrey, 36, Lara, 33, and Jennifer, 30, and other relatives, such as his nephew Adam and his ex-wife Sherri Kramer, 67.
Her remarks come a week after she told the outlet that she strives to look at the positives rather than dwell on being "robbed" of time with Bob.
Previously, Rizzo took to her Instagram Stories in March 2023 to answer fan questions in what she called a "14.5 month grief check-in."
In response to a fan's inquiry about dating since her husband's death, Rizzo said at the time, "OK, here we go. I have gotten this question hundreds, hundreds of times since the beginning."
Rizzo admitted at the time that she was open to the thought that one day she might want to welcome someone in, even if she didn't feel ready to start dating just yet.
