'That feels fake': Offset opens up about the emotional struggles of discussing Takeoff's death

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rapper Offset has acknowledged how challenging it is for him to move on after the tragic death of his Migos bandmate Takeoff, real name Kirsnick Khari Ball, who was fatally shot at a Houston bowling party last November.

The rapper, who is featured on Variety cover, claimed he has never spoken in public about the tragedy because for him it is very painful. "It's hard for me to talk about s**t right now," he said before adding "I've never talked about this stuff. Seriously. Talking about Take is hard, man. Talking about all this s**t is hard. That's why I don't, to be honest. That s**t hurts."

'He's not here. That s**t feels fake, bro'

He further added "He's not here. That s**t feels fake, bro. I get through my day thinking it's fake. And I don't say nothing to anybody about it. Some things I never tell nobody." Takeoff, who was 28, was one of the three members of Migos, along with Offset and Quavo, who are his childhood friends and relatives. Quavo was Takeoff's uncle and Offset is Quavo's cousin. The group rose to fame with hits like 'Bad and Boujee' and 'Versace' and collaborated with artists like Drake, Cardi B, and Beyonce. Quavo's mother Edna Marshall raised the three of them in the same small house in the northern suburbs of Atlanta.

Offset has paid tribute to Takeoff in various ways, such as changing his Instagram profile picture to a photo of him with a white heart, previewing their last song together on social media, and getting a large tattoo of his face on his back which he captioned, "Love you 4L & after." Offset also revealed on Instagram in December last year that he was "in a dark place," following Takeoff's death.

'I want to make music that makes you feel something'

Offset also discussed his next solo album, which will include features from Cardi B, his wife, and longtime collaborator, as well as Travis Scott, Future, Chloe Bailey, and Latto. He stated that a song they recorded with Takeoff last summer will also be on the album.

This summer's anticipated release of the record will highlight Offset's artistic development and range. He claimed he wanted to write music that both inspired people and captured his experiences. "I want to make music that makes you feel something," he said before adding "Music that makes you want to get up and do something with your life. Music that makes you want to be better."
