LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Pokimane once started a live stream by asking the viewers if they noticed anything odd in her appearance, which elicited a torrent of rude chat remarks. While some viewers simply assumed she'd changed her hair, others accused her of having a secret breast augmentation. Meanwhile, some inquired if she was pregnant and even referred to her as "chubby".
Pokimane, one of the rare streamers accustomed to being heckled, reacted with comments that would make anyone flee and hide. Throughout her streaming career, the Twitch streamer has encountered numerous internet bullies and has graciously shown them the door.
'This is my life, man'
When the viewer remarked, "Not to be mean, you look kinda chubby," Pokimane responded with an enormous clap back while peering into the camera and pointing to her cheeks. "This is my life, man. "I'm sitting here, having people pay to call me 'chubby,'" the streamer retorted.
Pokimane continued, “I can’t tell if that’s a good thing. Does that say more about me or about you? I’ve never paid to tell anybody anything. Are you into that sort of thing? You can tell me! We keep secrets here. I won’t tell no one…”
This isn't the first time Pokimane has reacted to haters and creeps during her live streams; the streamer also reacted angrily to a disrespectful comment left during one of her live shows, which appeared to condemn her for wearing leggings. Pokimane even mocked a sleazy donation message in a broadcast, asking the donator if the back of her clothing "had a zipper."
Pokimane said, “Hey, can we see the back of the outfit? Is there a zipper? Wait, do you have a zipper on your underwear? What if you turn a 180 and bend over? Is there any additional design in between your legs?”
Pokimane's copyright war
Pokimane is also known for taking swift action against anything she considers "non-transformative" or particularly sleazy, as evidenced by a saga back in 2019 in which she was accused of manipulating YouTube's copyright system to claim the films of smaller creators.
The Twitch queen stated, “In those specific scenarios I will take down videos – when it’s a straight reupload of my stream, and when it’s like a gross and misleading title." Pokimane continues to push her profession in new directions when she is not making others seem ridiculous for their unpleasant comments.
She founded RTS, a new talent management and brand advisory firm, with the goal of repairing what is "broken" in gaming and esports. Pokimane is one of Twitch’s most popular female streamers, boasting nearly $300,000 followers on the platform.
