FRISCO, TEXAS: Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks, two icons of country music, joined forces as co-hosts of the 58th Academy of Country Music Awards on Thursday, May 11 at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. They started with a lighthearted introductory piece that quickly turned explicit with a "threesome" joke.
Parton ramped up the tension and took the performance in a racy path by propositioning her co-host and his wife Trisha Yearwood on stage. The 77-year-old 'Jolene' singer made a joke about hearing in interviews that she was the choice for the couple's "hall pass." "I just had a thought. I know why you're doing that G.O.A.T. thing!" The lively duo began with an introductory number that included accolades from the two to each other and a bawdy surprise from the 'Jolene' icon. Brooks referred to Parton as the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) after introducing the audience, and she more than responded by anointing him as the "King of Country Music." "He changed the name of country music forever. In a flash, he became one of the biggest stars of all time," Dolly stated, while Garth responded by referencing one of her most known songs, saying, "World […] will always love you."
Parton came out driving a cart with a real goat in it and asked, "Did I hear you say you were looking for a G.O.A.T.?' I've got your G.O.A.T. right here!"
Trisha Yearwood's response
Yearwood, 58, who made an appearance later on the program, said, "Everybody loves Dolly. Actually, people think this is Dolce and Gabbana but it's Dolly and Garth." Yearwood, who shared that Dolly is both her and Brooks' "hall pass," also said, "Everybody loves Dolly. We love Dolly so much," as per ET.
