CLEVELAND, OHIO: YouTuber-turned-boxer Logan Paul made headlines when he called out Conor McGregor in a podcast for disappointing him after struggling with drug problems.
In the beginning of the podcast discussion, Paul expressed admiration for McGregor and provided a thorough explanation of how his sentiments toward him shifted from adoration to bitterness.
It's worth noting that Logan Paul is presently focused on his boxing comeback, gearing up for an upcoming fight against Dillon Danis, who has been gaining attention on social media for posting offensive remarks involving Paul and his fiancee.
Why is Logan Paul disappointed with McGregor?
In a recent podcast episode with Flagrant, Paul delved into the reasons why he is no longer a staunch fan of McGregor. Initially, he reminisced about his initial positive opinion of McGregor before McGregor faced issues related to drug problems.
“This motherf***er disappoints me,” Paul said. “‘Cause I grew up really liking Conor McGregor. He’s so entertaining, he’s so good. When he fought Floyd – C’mon, that was like the most exciting sports event ever. I was pumped for it."
He added, "And now that we’re kind of – in some weird roundabout way crossing paths.. he’s training Dillon and Dillon is the guy I’m fighting, and I have an opportunity to open a dialogue with him.”
Subsequently, Paul provided a brief explanation for his feelings of disappointment.
“He’s kind of just disappointed me as a superstar. Just ‘cause his drug problems, the way he doesn’t commit to anything, the way he doesn’t back up anything he says. The way he’s all bark no bite…These things bother me. I get why he’s friends with Dillon bro. They’re both bad people. They’re scumbags,” he said.
Logan Paul teases forthcoming bout with McGregor
Paul's criticism of McGregor isn't limited to the interview mentioned earlier. During a podcast episode with Misfits Boxing, Paul labeled McGregor as an "average fighter" and a "horrible fighter."
Furthermore, he teased the upcoming bout, taunting McGregor with a $1 million bet on his fighter. For those unfamiliar, McGregor is not only a close friend of Danis but also his training partner.
“Conor McGregor’s an average MMA fighter and a horrible boxer. I’m going to beat the sh*t out of his b*tch Dillon, and then I’m going to beat the sh*t out of him. But he ghosted me, bro. He won’t even bet $1 million on his fighter. That’s chump change for a guy like Conor. He won’t even bet $1 million on Dillon," he said.
