LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jessica Simpson is finally shutting down the rumors regarding her weight loss by Ozempic intake. The 42-year-old fashion designer and actress denied using the antidiabetic medication and distinctly stated that “it is not” how she dropped pounds when asked about it in a Bustle interview published Thursday, July 6.
“Oh, Lord,” Simpson said, referring to the social media haters calling her “too skinny” and speculating about her Ozempic usage while attributing her impressive weight loss to simple “willpower.” “Do people want me to be drinking again?” she asked before adding “Because that’s when I was heavier. Or they want me to be having another baby? My body can’t do it.”
Simpson does not let the negativity get the better of her
The 'I Wanna Love You Forever' singer noted that while trolls’ comments “hurt,” she doesn’t let “negativity derail” her. “No, I’m too old for that,” she said. “I am too connected to myself right now. I am fortunate to have been every size,” she continued. “For [my] brand, understanding the women [who buy our products] and for my psyche.”
Simpson lost 100 pounds after giving birth to her third child
In September last year, the “Open Book” author disclosed that she had lost 100 pounds after welcoming her third baby, daughter Birdie. She followed a strict meal plan and walked 14,000 steps per day with help from celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak. "6 months. 100 pounds down (Yes, I tipped the scales at 240)", she wrote on Instagram when she revealed her weight loss.
Simpson also shares a daughter, Maxwell 11, and a son, Ace, 10, with her husband Eric Johnson. The “Dukes of Hazzard” star responded with a video of herself singing to “block out destructive noise” in her studio when Instagram users raised the issue over her appearance in a Pottery Barn ad. “I woke up at the same time anxious and insecure but also angry and defensive,” Simpson captioned the November 2022 footage. “Nothin’ and nobody will rob me of my joy. Ya might come close but it is mine to own.”
Simpson never weighs herself anymore
During an appearance on the Today Show in 2021, Jessica told Hoda Kotb that she never weighs herself anymore, does not own a scale, and follows her instinct on how she feels when picking out her outfits. "I have no idea how much I weigh," she said. "Like, I just want to feel good and be able to zip my pants up."
The star also told Bustle that she finds it interesting that people still remember her vividly even though she has not worked on music or acted recently. "It boggles my mind that I've stayed relevant and that people are curious," she said, "because I have not entertained. I have not entertained at all," she also shared.
