LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jennifer Lopez reportedly took charge as the 'boss" in her relationship with Ben Affleck amid rumored squabbles. The pair, who rekindled their romance in 2021 and got married in 2022, had a rough start to their marriage and had previously been photographed in angry confrontations. According to recent reports, the couple has "clashed over money" since purchasing their fancy $60 million property.
According to sources close to the couple, Jennifer "paid for most of it" when it came to their new home. "Jen's paid for the majority, if not all, of it, claiming it was a small price to pay for their future happiness," said the insider according to Mirror.
The source said, "If it means it gets her off the hook for having all of the expensive cars, the hired help, day-to-day outgoings on personal trainers, beauty treatments, chefs and fancy yachts then she's OK with fronting the money." The source added, "Especially as she gets to call the shots and remind Ben that she's the boss," as per reports.
'He's always enjoyed spoiling himself but she takes it to a whole new level'
Another insider backed up the rumors that the two are having a fallout over money. The source said, "Ben has been moaning for a while now that he can't keep up with Jen's spending and nor should he have to - it's one of their big issues." The insider continued to say, "He's always enjoyed spoiling himself, but she takes it to a whole new level. It's ironic that she made this big thing out of tying the knot at a low key event," the insider shared, as reported by Mirror.
The source further adds, "The reality was that, almost right away, she was rolling out the mega yachts, buying fleets of cars and insisting on this A-list couple lifestyle, and Ben didn't have any say in the matter. Their friends think it's pretty sad that she needs to essentially buy her way back into his affections, and that it says a lot about how rocky and superficial things are between them right now."
Their mansion certainly lives up to the insider's words. It is reported to have a dozen bedrooms and 24 bathrooms, a sports bar, lounge and even a gym, along with numerous other amenities. They also have a massive car collection, boasting a Tesla Model S Plaid that is owned by Ben, and a Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe owned by Lopez among countless other expensive ones, which explains the 12-car garage in their new home.
'It seems like the Honeymoon period has ended'
Relationship coach Katie Mansfield exclusively told Mirror in the past that for the couple, the "reality phase has begun." She said, "It seems like the Honeymoon period has ended, and the reality phase has begun!" She refers to the first 6-12 months of the relationship where people are the best version of themselves and only see the good parts of a relationship, after which reality starts to creep in. Katie adds, "This can be heightened in celebrity relationships due to the excitement and fantasy aspect of their lifestyles."
