LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Stand-up comedian Gabriel Iglesias had a near-death experience on his way to a performance in North Carolina. The 46-year-old's private jet skidded off the runway in Andrews, North Carolina, and landed 100 yards away in a meadow. Fortunately, everyone on board is alive and safe.
The comedian was traveling with an entourage of six passengers, two pilots, and two chihuahuas when the plane lost control and went into the field. Just after the crash, Gabriel took to Instagram to share the incident with all his followers and said, “Emergency landing!!! Our private jet skid off the runway and wound up in a field in Andrews, N Carolina. Everyone is ok but shaken up. Happy to be alive. I love u all.”
How did the accident happen?
Gabriel said that the weather was extremely bad and the pilot apparently overshot where the wheels were supposed to touch down, TMZ reports. He continued, "After we touched down, the reverse thrusters somehow failed, and the plane continued down the runway at a high rate of speed going into the grass the length of a football field." Gabriel also mentioned the severe turbulence before landing and stated that he hit his head on the ceiling of the plane.
There were no injuries reported but the Cherokee County Office of the Sheriff stated that local emergency officials responded to a report of a 1987 Gulfstream running off the end of a runway at Western Carolina Regional Airport and rushed to its rescue. The exact cause of this accident is yet to be determined but Gabriel painted quite a vivid picture for everyone.
