LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Mishaps and blunders of all kinds are frequent when it comes to live broadcasts, and that includes the ‘Today’ show. However, when these blunders include potential physical harm, things can get a little scary. On Wednesday’s show, Craig Melvin was involved in a mishap that could have resulted in an injury.
The ‘Today’ show often has a variety of unique segments, and one of them includes a shopping segment, where Chassie Post joins Melvin, Sheinelle Jones, and Dylan Dreyer to showcase some products, especially for the summer. Last time, Melvin complained about fake ice used in the product and this time, the product didn’t really support him…quite literally.
What happened to Melvin?
Several products were being shown on the ‘Today’ show for summer, including a personalized beach towel and an ostrich face-down lounge chair. As the women walked around, talking about the products, Melvin decided to take a little break and go relax on the lounge chair with his towel wearing a hat to protect him from the sun. Post described the product as “the greatest invention that has ever happened for a lounge chair.” As Post continued to describe the product, Melvin got comfortable on the lounge chair and leaned back, almost a little too carelessly.
Melvin could have easily hurt his back or pulled a muscle at this point, but Melvin made a quick recovery. All the women around him seemed concerned with collective ‘whoa’s but after making sure Melvin was okay, they swiftly moved on to continue checking out the product. Melvin almost pretended like nothing had happened, to save himself from the embarrassment or having the attention on him.
Smooth recovery
Melvin can oftentimes be described as smooth, and this was just another example. By the looks of it, the lounge chair that was being showcased in the segment wasn’t locked into place properly, causing Melvin to almost fall back and possibly hurt himself. Luckily, he was quick to notice as he held himself upright before gently lowering himself down from the chair, which looked extremely uncomfortable for the tall man, but it worked nonetheless. Meanwhile, Dreyer continued to enjoy the comfort of the lounge chair, using it better than Melvin did a few minutes ago. Surely everyone is going to look at Melvin’s example before placing an order for the lounge chair this summer
