COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: Texas A&M University's defensive line coach and former player from the Aggies 'Wrecking Crew', Terry Price, died on Friday, June 23. He was 55. Price was the longest-tenured member of the Texas A&M football coaching staff.
Price has been coaching his alma mater since 2012, after successful stints with Ole Miss and Auburn. Besides coaching, the former Aggies player was also known as a great recruiter who brought several stars to Texas A&M like Myles Garrett, Daylon Mack, Justin Madubuike and DeMarvin Leal. Price was ranked as one of the top 25 recruiters in the nation by Rivals.
How did Terry Price die?
Price died after a battle with Stage IV cancer. A former Texas A&M football player has confirmed Price's death cause to KAGS. However, Aggie head coach Jimbo Fisher said in a statement, "Terry was not only a great Aggie, football coach and recruiter, he was an even better husband, father and man." Fisher added, "The impact he had on this program and his players is immeasurable. Our football family has suffered an incredible loss. We will continue to hold Kenya and the boys in our thoughts and prayers." Price is survived by his wife, Kenya, and their two sons, Devin, who played on the Texas A&M football team from 2020-22 and Alexander.
Terry Price's life legacy
Price has dedicated his entire life to football and has been part of the Texas A&M Aggies as a player and a coach. Price led the defensive line in tackles during his junior and senior seasons while being an integral piece to Texas A&M's back-to-back conference championships from 1986-1989. Notably, he earned All-Southwest Conference honors as a senior, which helped him to get selected in the 10th round of the 1990 NFL draft (255th overall) by the Chicago Bears. However, soon after his studies, he kicked off his coaching career. Price has been a part of the coaching staff for the Auburn Tigers from 1999-2008, the Ole Miss Rebels (1995-98 and 2009-11), and the Texas A&M Aggies (2012-2023). Price's most notable coaching work was he brought Landis Durham from a backup linebacker in the program to leading the entire Southeastern Conference with 10.5 sacks in 2017. Under his coaching, Price's teams have been to 21 bowl games.
