GYEONGGI, SOUTH KOREA: Park Soo Ryun, 29, who starred in Disney+ show 'Snowdrop' died after she slipped down a flight of stairs at a property on Jeju Island, South Korea’s largest island, where she was scheduled to perform on June 11.
She was reportedly rushed to a hospital and was pronounced brain dead after attempts to revive her failed. Ryun's mortuary was prepared in the funeral hall of Suwon Hospital, Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center. The funeral was held on June 12 at 4 pm KST. Ryun rose to fame in 2018 with 'Il Tenore'. She appeared in several musicals such as 'The Days We Loved' and 'Siddhartha'.
How did Park Soo Ryun die?
Ryun died by falling down from stairs while returning to her home on June 11 afternoon. Even though she was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment, but numerous attempts could not bring her back.
Ryun's family is extremely devastated at her tragic demise and has decided to help out others in needed. The family decided to donate her organs saying it would bring them enough comfort knowing that their daughter's organs could save someone's life. Ryun's mother told South Korean media, “Only her brain is unconscious, and her heart is still beating. There must be someone who desperately needs [organs]. As her mother and father, we will be able to live comforted [by the thought that her heart] has gone to someone and is beating.”
Park Soo Ryun's musical career
Ryun was known for starring in multiple musicals and she was most notable for her roles in 'Finding Kim Jong Wook', 'Passing Through Love', 'Siddhartha' and 'The Day We Loved'. The accolades of Ryun also include starring in a series set in 1980s with Blackpink's singer Jisoo and the actor Jung Hae-in.
Turns out Ryun is not the only actor from Disney+ show 'Snowdrop' who died in recent years. Another actress of the show Kim Mi-soo, who played the role of history student on the show also died in January 2022. She was 29 as well.
