LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Controversial RJ Howard Stern revealed that he’s ‘back on track’ with Bill Maher. The SiriusXM host said on Monday, September 25, that he confronted his off-and-on pal over emails and the 67-year-old apologized for frequently making ‘gushing’ comments on air over his wife Beth.
The 69-year-old said he settled the difference with ‘Real Time’ presenter on HBO who often ‘gushes’ over his wife on the air.
Howard Stern said he and Bill Maher spoke over the weekend
“I spoke to him over the weekend and I told him about my shock at this commentary and he was apologetic,” claimed Stern.
“We talked for a while, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I said, ‘Okay, you know, listen, we’ll move on. We’ll move on”. “I’m not going to go into the details of the conversation, but I was pretty blunt,” he said.
The 69-year-old further said, “He seemed to get it. And he was gracious. I said to him basically at the end of the conversation, ‘I think what you do on HBO is so important.’ It was like the Writers Guild. We reached a tentative agreement,” Stern said, adding “So we’re back on good terms.”
Howard, last week, announced that he’s ending his friendship with Bill amid his remarks on his wife Beth.
“[Howard Stern] goes on about how much he loves his wife, Beth, which he has been doing on the air for, like, 10 years,” Maher said over his Club Random podcast while interviewing Julian Lennon.
“But, we know Howard had this other wife before Beth,” Maher had earlier said, referring to Alison Berns. The two ended their decades-old marriage in 2001.
Stern was married to Alison Berns from 1978 until 2001. He married Beth Ostrosky Stern in 2008, according to New York Post.
“So he’s trying to make me seem like I’m the slightly immoral one because I haven’t settled down,” said Maher, as per Mediaite.
“Could we just not gush about the person while the other person can still hear it?” Maher continued, who had remained unmarried.
Maher told Lennon: “I don’t want to start a fight with him. We’ve finally repaired our relationship…and we’re getting along great.”
Howard Stern called Bill Maher a 'sexist!'
However, Stern disagreed, calling out Bill. He said, “What a sexist thing to say! Like, what a convoluted, nutty thing to say,” Stern continued.“It’s assuming that he knows something about my first marriage.”
“That, of course, the man must be leaving the woman, and the woman must be devastated and be sitting around pining away for her famous man,” Stern said, adding “He ought to shut his mouth!"
