Candace Owens has candidly dished her opinion on the Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater dating rumours – and she did not hold back. The 'Thank You Next' singer recently parted ways with her husband Dalton Gomez after two years of marriage. Since news broke of their separation, rumours surfaced online about Grande dating her West End co-star Ethan Slater, who is also said to be going through a recent breakup. Lilly Jay, Slater's partner of 10 years and the mother of their one-year-old child, has since broken her silence in an interview with Page Six about the pair's alleged romance. "[Ariana’s] the story really. Not a girl’s girl," Jay told the outlet. "My family is just collateral damage." Now, on an episode of the Candace Owens Podcast, the conservative commentator and author blasted Grande for being a "fake feminist". Owens said the first time she heard the story about the pair dating, she responded that she "obviously has daddy issues." "It's abundantly clear Ariana Grande has daddy issues," she continued. "She likes to pursue men that are in stable relationships, she likes to rip those relationships apart and it feels to me that there's obviously something that is plaguing her from her childhood." Owens said she is not just attacking Grande – but also "dweeb" Slater. "This is the first time that a girl that he thinks is way above his weight class here, 'oh my god, Ariana Grande is looking at me' and he has completely lost his mind," she said, before calling him a "weak man." "He allowed one girl to take a glance at him and he ruined his entire life," Owens continued. Owens suggested that the pair would not last... "The high for [Grande] is breaking up the relationship. She's not going to stay with him because he's already committed to divorcing his wife, so the game is over for her," she added. Tom Aspinall will headline UFC London in July, returning from injury to take on Marcin Tybura. British heavyweight Aspinall suffered a knee injury just 15 seconds into the main event of UFC London last July, as he took on Curtis Blaydes. Aspinall, 30, has not fought since, but the Wigan fighter will return almost a year to the day after his ill-fated clash with Blaydes. Aspinall (12-3) faces Tybura (24-7) at the O2 Arena on 22 July, as the Briton looks to bounce back from his only loss since 2016. Meanwhile, his Polish opponent enters London on the back of a two-fight win streak, having outpointed Blagoy Ivanov in February after beating Alexandr Romanov via decision in August. Prior to those victories, Tybura was outpointed by Alexander Volkov, whom Aspinall submitted in the first round at UFC London in March 2022. This March, the UFC staged its first-pay-per view in the UK since 2016, as Leon Edwards retained the welterweight title against Kamaru Usman in the main event of UFC 286. The upcoming July event, meanwhile, will be a Fight Night. Also in action that evening will be Liverpudlian star Molly McCann, who faces Julija Stoliarenko at flyweight, and Wolverhampton lightweight Jai Herbert, who fights Fares Ziam. Eurovision, that famously camp song contest which has a strong pro-LGBTQ+ stance and has this year acknowledged Putin’s war in Ukraine as the reason for it being held in Liverpool on the country’s behalf, has blocked President Volodymyr Zelensky from making a video address - because it would breach the event’s “non-political nature”. Organisers behind the show, who on Thursday saw no issue with drag queens absolutely slaying on the M&S Bank Arena stage and preaching messages of love and acceptance, rejected the request ahead of the grand final on Saturday. In a statement, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) – whose previous decisions to ban Russia and Belarus from participating definitely weren’t political, obviously – said the request from Mr Zelensky to address the Eurovision audience “while made with laudable intentions, regrettably cannot be granted by the European Broadcasting Union management as it would be against the rules of the event”. Belarus was disqualified from the contest in 2021 over political messaging in their planned entry (their second attempt before the deadline), while Russia was kicked out of Eurovision a year later for its illegal invasion of Ukraine. And the rules state “all participating broadcasters” must ensure that “the ESC [Eurovision Song Contest] shall in no case be politicised and/or instrumentalized and/or otherwise brought into disrepute in any way”. That’s ‘instrumentalise’ in the sense of using Eurovision as a platform to spread a political message, before anyone makes a musical pun (we know you want to)… Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The EBU’s decision has since been criticised by Boris Johnson, the former prime minister who became a meme over how many times he’d meet with the Ukrainian president whenever he was experiencing a turbulent moment in his premiership. “It would have been right to hear from President Zelensky at tomorrow night’s Eurovision. There is only one reason the contest is not in Ukraine and that is because of Putin’s illegal war,” he tweeted. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s spokesman told reporters: “The prime minister believes it would be fitting for President Zelensky to address the event and we’re disappointed by the decision from the European Broadcasting Union. “The values and freedoms that President Zelensky and the people of Ukraine are fighting for are not political; they’re fundamental, and Eurovision themselves recognised that last year when they rightly suspended Russia’s participation from the competition.” No 10 added, however, that they are not planning to call on the EBU to change its mind.
