UFC London ticket prices as July fights are announced
A UFC Fight Night will take place in London in July, just four months after the MMA promotion last came to the UK. In March, the UFC held its first UK pay-per-view event in seven years, as British champion Leon Edwards retained the welterweight title against rival Kamaru Usman at the O2 Arena. On Saturday 22 July, the UFC returns to the venue for a Fight Night, with Wigan’s Tom Aspinall set to face Marcin Tybura in a heavyweight main event. Liverpudlian star Molly McCann will also be in action, with more fights to be announced in due course. Ticket prices for the event are also yet to be revealed, but they are expected to be cheaper than they were for March’s UFC 286 event. At UFC 286, the average ticket price was £225.50, whereas the same type of seat was £88 at the Fight Night staged by the UFC in March 2022. As Fight Night events are of a smaller scale than pay-per-views, ticket prices for July’s card should be lower than those from UFC 286, but it is possible that they will still be more expensive than 2022’s Fight Nights in London. Furthermore, all three UFC events at the O2 Arena since March 2022 have been affected by touts, who have sold tickets at drastically-escalated prices – on top of the increased base price. A statement by the UFC on Friday (21 April) read: “Following three consecutive sold-out events in London, fans are encouraged to register their interest early to have the best chance of securing tickets via ufc.com/London and to follow @UFCEurope on social media for the latest updates on this event. “Tickets go on sale from 10am BST on Friday 26 May, via AXS and Ticketmaster. Fight Club members can purchase tickets early at 9am BST on Wednesday 24 May, whilst those who registered their interest early in this event will gain priority access at 10am BST on Thursday 25 May.” All UFC London fights announced so far Tom Aspinall vs Marcin Tybura (heavyweight) Molly McCann vs Julija Stoliarenko (women’s flyweight) Ketlen Vieira vs Pannie Kianzad (women’s bantamweight) Jai Herbert vs Fares Ziam (lightweight) Click here to subscribe to The Independent’s Sport YouTube channel for all the latest sports videos. Noel Gallagher reveals offer that would make him consider getting Oasis back together
It’s one of the most famous family feuds in music history, but Noel Gallagher has revealed what it would take for him to put things with his brother behind him and “consider” getting Oasis back together. Noel and Liam Gallagher went their separate ways in 2009 and haven’t played together since then. Despite Liam voicing his enthusiasm for a reunion at various times in the past, Noel has always been the one most resistant to getting the Britpop band together again. However, it now looks like he could be more open to the idea than he has been for years. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Noel gave a new interview where he said that he would “properly consider” rejoining Oasis if he was given £8 million. He was asked about the idea on Johnny Vaughan’s Radio X show, where the host said: “A while ago you gave me that chance. “You said, ‘If you turn up to my house with eight million quid cash in an Adidas bag, I’d put them back together’. If I was the middleman in that, we still up for that?” Noel replied: “I would consider it… I would properly consider it, yeah.” The musician was then asked whether being questioned about a possible reunion over the years had become tiresome. He said: “It used to really annoy me when I first started and now it’s just, it’s just whatever… I’m fascinated with people asking the same question and getting the same answer, but the thing that is ongoing and will never get old is how the music just keeps appealing to another generation of fans. “I was up at the Etihad for the Real Madrid game and two young guys, only the same ages as my kid, like 13, 14, kinda leapt out of this box and were like ‘Oh my God’. “[They were] freaking out and then their dad came out and said, ‘they’re massive fans’ and I was thinking God, they were one when I went solo! It just makes me think we did something really brilliant and timeless and yeah, it makes me feel good.” Have your say in our news democracy. Arnold Schwarzenegger initially wanted to change his most iconic movie quote
Arnold Schwarzenegger has perhaps one of the most iconic lines in movie history - but it could have been different if the veteran actor had his way. We all know the line "I'll be back" from his memorable role in The Terminator (1984), but the 75-year-old revealed in a new Netflix documentary series Arnold that he tried to get the line changed. But it also turns out that "I'll be back," was not the original line in the script written by director James Cameron along with Gale Anne Hurd. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The line that Schwarzenegger was supposed to say initially was "I'll come back." "Sometime in the middle of the shoot, we're doing this police station scene. The line is, 'I'll come back.' It wasn't meant to be like a big moment at all," Cameron said. "It was literally meant to be, on its face, 'No problem, I'll come back.' For some reason, Arnold didn't say, 'I'll come back.' I said, 'Well, just say "I'll be back." Keep it simple.'" Every "I'll be back" from Terminator 1 to 6 (Compilation) www.youtube.com However, Schwarzenegger wasn't exactly a fan and believed "I'll be back" sounded "funny," so instead he wanted the line to sound more "machine-like" and lobbied for "I will be back." Though Cameron wasn't exactly impressed with Schwarzenegger's suggestion. "'And he says, 'Are you the writer?'" Schwarzenegger recalled Cameron saying. "And I said, 'No,' and he said, 'Well, don't tell me how to f****** write.'" In the end, Schwarzenegger admitted that Cameron's line was "absolutely right." "It became the most quoted movie line, I think, in the history of motion pictures. So this just shows to you who was right and who was wrong," the actor added. Given that “I’ll be back" comes in at number 37 on the American Film Institute’s list of “100 Greatest Movie Quotes Of All Time" safe to say it was the right call. Arnold, the three-part documentary series is now available to stream on Netflix. Have your say in our news democracy.
