LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The dynamic duo of ‘Today’ show meteorologist Al Roker and his wife, Deborah Roberts, have proven time and again that they have each other's backs. Recently, Roberts displayed her unwavering support for her husband by slamming a rude commenter.
In an Instagram post from Sunday, August 6, the ABC journalist shared a snap of herself and Roker donning casual looks as they posed outside their home in New York City. While her ardent fans flooded the comment section with appreciative remarks, an individual was more inclined toward negativity, commenting that Roker should "retire" as he "doesn’t look well."
Deborah Roberts clapped back at a rude comment
Roberts shared an image of herself and Roker enjoying their summer weekend, captioning the post, "Saturday scene. Taking a moment to savor summer. And #life." The journalist looked refreshing in a casual T-shirt as she smiled at the camera. Interestingly, Roker's choice of T-shirt turned out to be much-discussed as it had the slogan, "You don’t scare me. I have two daughters," which he paired with a 'Today' climate hat.
Naturally, most of Robert's fans took to complimenting the cute couple with some quipping at Roker's T-shirt. However, one individual had a different perspective and wrote, "Your husband needs to get some rest. No offense, but he does not look well. He should retire." Roberts composedly yet assertively replied to the remark, stating, "Hope you’re resting and looking your best."
While the ABC journalist's brutal reply was enough to leave a lasting impression on the person, her loyal fans made sure to have her back and slam the troll. "Do ya watch The Today Show???? He looks great! And even in this picture looks relaxed and well🥰 Whatever you’re doing for him and with him, keep it up, Deb," wrote one fan, with another adding, "Nice little shady comment there, 😂😂." "Wow! How rude are you? Do you know that Al had a major medical emergency less than a year ago and nearly didn’t make it and then another emergency just before Thanksgiving? If you’ve got nothing nice to say, keep it to yourself," expressed a follower, while one showed support for Roker’s dedication, saying, "I think Al looks outstanding. He gets up every morning and cooks Nick’s breakfast when he’s home from school. He appears to cook family dinner every night. I think he exercises every day, especially walking. He works 5 days a week and even catches the subway to work often. Please leave him alone. I’ve been watching him and Deborah on TV all of my life and love the both of them. Mind your business." One fan simply wrote, "If you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all !!!" and another firmly declared, "He doesn’t need to retire he’s my favourite on the Today show."
Al Roker's major career milestone
Roker and Roberts' Sunday was a bit special as the meteorologist’s documentary, 'Gaining Ground The Fight for Black Land' was featured at the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival. The ABC News journalist took to Instagram to share the exciting news, captioning the post, "Sunday celebration. So very proud of my guy, @alroker who is championing the efforts and struggles of black US #farmers to hold onto their family land and stay in business. Al’s new award-winning documentary, Gaining Ground The Fight for Black Land is gaining traction and featured at the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival. This production is moving, educational and urgent. You must see it! Congratulations Al. Well done!"
