BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA: On August 26, Paul Skenes, the boyfriend of LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne, made his eagerly awaited AA debut for the Altoona Curve.
In the MLB Draft 2023, the Pittsburgh Pirates selected him with the first overall pick. The newcomer, though, had a disappointing start, and his admirers were let off.
Fans vented their annoyance online and made light-hearted comments about Skenes' relationship with the famous gymnast and how it would soon end if he kept up his bad form.
Paul Skenes marks his AA debut
Barstool baseball took to Twitter on August 27, to share a glimpse of Skenes. The Tweet said, "Paul Skenes in his AA debut 0.2 IP 3 H 4 ER 2 BB 2 SO."
At the time of writing, the video shared had more than 2 million views.
Before the first inning was over, Paul Skenes was removed from the game with only two recorded outs. He has thrown 16 strikes and 17 balls while surrendering three hits and four earned runs.
The Altoona Curve staged a 9-8 comeback victory despite the poor pitching that left runners on second and third base when he was removed from the game.
Fans troll Skenes for his disappointing performance

The third user wrote, "They gotta stop bringing up these people so fast. He will be fine but also let him working in A for a little bit. It’s ok" The fourth user wrote,"@livvydunne I would NEVER give up 4 ER in my AA debut. Just saying."
While the fifth user wrote, "That’s what he gets for taking Livvy from me."
However, the online anger after Skenes' debut has demonstrated how frequently harsh and nasty public criticism can be.
