Budding lawyer Kim Kardashian pays off legal fees of over 50 mothers on probation and parole across US

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kim Kardashian showed a kind gesture by paying the legal fees of more than 50 mothers across the United States on the special occasion of Mother's Day. The 42-year-old budding lawyer shared a post on Monday, May 15, explaining that she collaborated with Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin to carry out the charitable deed to give the mothers on probation and parole a new start in their lives.

Michael Rubin is involved with the REFORM Alliance as a co-chair on the organization's board. It aims to "transform probation and parole" in the US. Several recipients expressed their gratitude for the financial relief to Kardashian, Rubin, and REFORM Alliance's Jessica Jackson who were in a video call.

What did Kim Kardashian say?

"Thousands of mothers are stuck on probation or parole just because they can't afford to pay off their restitution, fines, and fees," Kardashian captioned according to Daily Mail. "This is a major roadblock for those hoping to moving forward as it can effect progress and limit the opportunities they can provide their children." She continued, "While on probation they are at constant risk of being returned to prison or jail- not for committing a new crime but for technical violations like missing a meeting with their probation officer. In celebration of Mother's Day, I've partnered with @MichaelRubin to pay off the remaining restitution of more than 50 mothers across the country to give these women the second chance they've earned."

It was confirmed that the women were actively focusing on rehabilitation and success besides getting continuous support from their parole officers. Kardashian went on to thank recipients "Danielle, Drew, and Tarlexus for sharing [their] stories" with her massive Instagram following. The American socialite then requested her fans to do their part to "fix this broken system" by checking out REFORM Alliance. "But [we] need your support to join the movement visit @REFORM and thank you @jessicajackson," she concluded.

Kim Kardashian also expressed her frustrations

The supermodel voiced her frustrations over the fact that the "system keeps them stuck in an endless cycle of supervision" despite wanting nothing more than the "chance to rebuild their lives." "It's hard to fathom what these mothers have to go through," she said in a press release. She urged lawmakers to "work toward changing outdated laws that keep too many people unnecessarily behind bars." "I will continue to bring awareness to these important issues until there is change."

Drew, who was extremely delighted told Kardashian and Rubin that having her legal fees getting paid is "life changing" and that she plans to "do so much with this newfound freedom." Tarlexus said that it will "take a lot of stress off me financially, mentally." Kardashian, who was overwhelmed by the gratitude she received from the mothers, said she hopes "this little bit can just continue to motivate you and push you to exactly where you're supposed to be."

What is Reform Alliance?

In 2019, the Reform Alliance was formed which consists of a "world-class group of philanthropists and activists." It was inspired by the controversial re-incarceration of rapper Meek Mill in 2017. The organization is actively committed to "changing laws, systems and culture" in the hopes of creating "real pathways to work and wellbeing."

Kim passed with flying colors

Kim Kardashian after failing the baby bar three times before succeeding in 2021, told Today that she passed her law school midterms with flying colors. She received A's on two of her exams which gave her "that boost of confidence again just to push through." Kardashian presently is studying constitutional law which she says has been the easiest for her. "I'm still studying. I'm actually in constitutional law 1 and 2 right now. It's my toughest; not the biggest fan of it, I've been sharing my struggle," the mother-of-four explained. "But with that said, I took a midterm yesterday. I got 100 percent and then I got a 95 percent on my other midterm," she revealed proudly.
