LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez have officially filed for divorce and the singer is currently trying to keep her relationship with Ethan Slater private.
The real estate agent and the pop singer simultaneously filed for divorce on Monday, September 18, 2023, ending their marriage that began in May 2021, according to OK Magazine.
Why did Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez split?
Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their separation.
According to TMZ, Gomez filed for divorce immediately after the 'Die For You' singer filed and they had already ironed out the details of their divorce settlement before heading to the courthouse.
A source close to the situation stated that the 30-year-old pop musician will be issuing a financial settlement to her ex-husband and it is noted that the former couple had a prenuptial agreement that would help them in handling such matters.
The divorce filings also indicated that Grande and Gomez's separation date was listed as February 20, 2023, implying that they have been living apart for some time.
Despite the end of their marriage, it appears that the former couple took longer for the divorce filing as they were determined to handle the divorce proceedings with care and respect.
"They’ve been really caring and respectful of one another every step of this process," said the insider.
Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater's relationship following her divorce
Ariana Grande and her 'Wicked' co-star Ethan Slater reportedly got into a relationship after her separation from Dalton Gomez.
According to Page Six, Slater's wife Lilly Jay was shattered about her marriage when the actor filed for divorce from her.
“[Ariana’s] the story really. Not a girl’s girl. My family is just collateral damage," said Jay who is now focused on being "a good mom" to her baby son she has with Slater.
The 'Love is Everything' singer has sought to keep her romance with Slater out of the public eye.
"While this entire situation has been blown out of proportion, it’s much different than what has been portrayed in public. They are just trying to navigate their new relationship in private," said an insider.
"The truth is, Ariana and Ethan didn’t begin seeing each other until after both parties were separated, respectfully," the source added.
"They are doing their best to balance the fact that they are in the public eye with the desire to be respectful to all parties involved," the source further said.
