LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The ‘Jeopardy!’ Masters champion, James Holzhauer is not happy with ABC, the network which airs the coveted game show. The 39-year-old 'Jeopardy!' contestant has criticized ABC for not scheduling 'The Chase', another game show in which he participates, to broadcast immediately after 'Jeopardy! Masters' concluded in May 2023.
James who won the Masters tournament in 2023 and took home a whopping sum of $500,000 had decided to continue his winning streak with another quiz show which could establish him as the ultimate winner of different game shows. But when ABC didn’t give, ‘The Chase’ much weightage, James resorted to Twitter to express his displeasure.
What did James Holzhauer say?
BuzzerBlog, a game show news source recently posted about ‘The Chase’s' ratings going up. They tweeted, "Most interesting thing was the giant increase for #TheChase. It was up 25% in the 18-49 demo from the last episode and up nearly 60% in total viewers. It's still a shame that The Chase wasn't paired with Jeopardy Masters.” James agreed with the tweet and stated that ‘The Chase’ received a raw deal from the network. The 32-time 'Jeopardy!' champion implied that since he's on ‘The Chase’ and won 'Jeopardy! Masters', doing so would have been a no-brainer. He reacted to the Buzzer Blog quote and tweeted, "If only those two shows had some commonality that would suggest a shared fanbase.”
Some fans reacted to James’ tweet, pointing out ABC’s glaring mistake. A fan said, “Some ABC bigwig probably said, 'You can't put them together because it's too much blue on the screen for 2 hours straight.” Another commented, “I'm still just waiting for an episode of The Weakest Link with all the Jeopardy! Masters.” A third mentioned, "I love both shows, but The Chase is elusive, and neither follows nor precedes anything else I'd watch”, while a fourth supported the ‘The Chase’ stating, “I like The Chase. I just never see it on.”
