LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Millions of admirers will be frantically trying to get their hands on a copy when Britney Spears' tell-all memoir 'The Woman In Me' becomes available in October. However, Justin Timberlake and Colin Farrell won't be among them as they are disputing significant portions of the book. According to sources, the lawyers of Timberlake, 42, and Farrell, 47, have concerns about the claims made in the memoir by the Grammy-winning pop star, 41, concerning both of them.
Britney, who is currently married to actor Sam Asghari but was previously linked to the 'Cry Me A River' singer and 'The Batman' actor, regained control of her multimillion-dollar fortune and other aspects of her life in 2021 after a conservatorship overseen by her family was terminated. However, the publication of her tell-all memoir was delayed because her ex-boyfriends were reportedly "conscious" about what she might have written.
Why is Britney Spears' memoir getting delayed?
According to The Sun, Timberlake and Farrell, who were both intimately connected to Spears in the early 2000s, have caused a four-month delay to the book's arrival because Spears wanted to include certain stories involving them. According to sources who spoke to the site, the lawyers for both men threatened to file a lawsuit against Spears if certain sections of the book were not changed before publication.
An insider told the publication, "Lawyers demanded to see her book in advance and were adamant that some of the revelations were removed. There are still plenty of gobsmacking tales but Justin and Colin were conscious about what could be said about them." The insider claimed that "the legal process meant the publication was held up by four months as discussions went back and forth about what could be included. But that has finally now been settled and her autobiography is all ready to go."
The 'Toxic' hitmaker was connected to Timberlake from 1999 to 2002, and in 2003, Farrell was seen with her amid dating rumors. According to the report, however, Farrell denied that they had dated.
In February 2022, Spears declared via Instagram that she was writing a book. She completed the writing process a year ago, but the publishing industry's paper shortages delayed the book's publication. The 'Toxic' singer updated fans on the status of the upcoming book and the delays via social media this past May.
'The Woman In Me'
In an Instagram post earlier this month, Spears shared that the book's cover art, titled 'The Woman In Me', looks to reference a line from her 2001 hit song 'I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman'. An insider commented on her much-anticipated memoir, saying, "The book is brilliant and heartfelt. It has given Britney the chance to tell her own story, which certainly hasn’t been easy but which will be incredibly enlightening for her fans."
It will explore her love relationships as well as the 13-year conservatorship that gave her father Jamie power over her life and income. The most recent information on her book was released 18 months after it was made public that she had received a $20 million deal to pen it. It is being published by Gallery Books, which described it as "a brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith and hope." The tell-all book will be released on October 24, 2023, where Spears will provide her version of the events.
