LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Bachelorette' alum Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick announced their separation, calling off their engagement on Sunday, August 6, much to fans' dismay.
Kaitlyn and Jason met during an interview on Kaitlyn's 'Off the Vine' podcast. They announced their relationship barely two months after the former 'Bachelorette' and her ex-fiance, Shawn Booth, ended their three-year engagement. In August 2022, the 'Dancing With the Stars' alum revealed exclusively to Us Weekly that she and Jason encountered some difficulties when arranging their own wedding. Finally, the couple agreed to split in August 2023.
Why did Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick break up?
The 38-year-old Canadian and the 34-year-old New Yorker, who met in 2018 at her 'Off the Vine' podcast, took to Instagram to share the news. The duo would like for their followers to "say some sort of prayer for both of our hearts" as they "go through our individual journeys to heal."
Despite the fact that the Nashville-based couple has never had children, Kaitlyn and Jason said that they will share custody of their Golden Retrievers, Ramen, and Pinot, who "will continue to be cared for together as brothers" despite their "life-altering decision." The statement further read, "Continuing our friendship is incredibly important to both of us. We feel grateful to be ending our engagement with love and respect for each other," Kaitlyn and Jason stated.
The statement read, "It's heartbreaking and sad to say goodbye, but our care and admiration for one another will never die. We are beyond thankful for the memories made together, and for your support of us and the boys throughout the years. Moving forward we will always have that level of support for each other. We don't know what the future holds so please try to hold space for us in your hearts."
Kaitlyn's missing engagement ring sparked breakup rumors
Kaitlyn sparked rumors that she and her fiance, Jason, had split up by uploading a series of cryptic messages. On her Instagram Stories on August 2, Kaitlyn shared a poem by Nikita Gill about taking time "to accept yourself" rather than trying "to improve yourself" before snapping at followers who have been flooding her comments section with questions about the status of her relationship with Jason.
"I cannot believe the audacity of people to expect things from me when I haven’t even been able to process things for myself," she said in a story that has since been removed. "Have a f*****g heart. You’re scaring me with your comments and demands. I’m almost worried about YOU."
On August 2, Kaitlyn also released a clip of her 2020 song 'If I'm Being Honest' in a feed post. The lyrics state, "Just ‘cause I’m an open book, don’t mean you get the whole story. And if I’m being honest / I’m not always as tough as I seem / And I can have my moments / But words can get the best of me / And the words that I say to myself / Are the ones that hit the hardest.."
The 'Dancing With the Stars' Season 29 winner's perplexing postings came only three days after her Instagram fans realized she had removed her engagement ring in a set of beach photos.
