LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sometimes, the best content on live TV comes from blunders and mishaps, and Whoopi Goldberg is proof of that. ‘The View’ boasts a panel of some talented women including Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and of course, Goldberg herself. On Monday’s show, ‘The View’ crew, co-hosts, and the live audience witnessed one of the biggest blunders made by Goldberg so far.
While Goldberg is no stranger to blunders on live TV, this particular one might be one of her best blunders so far, even earning a disappointed nod and smile from Brian Teta, ‘The View’s producer. The one thing that is always a big no on live TV, especially talk shows, is cursing. Well, Goldberg misread the whole situation…quite literally.
‘Landmarks or b*tches’
The panel of women discussed a survey in the United Kingdom as Goldberg read her cue card confidently, “2000 adults in the UK, found that when people travel, cuisine is more important to them than landmarks or b*tches. Beaches!” It didn’t take long for Goldberg to correct herself but it was too late as her co-hosts and audiences erupted into a collective laughter. The camera even panned to Teta after the co-hosts reacted, and the producer looked quite embarrassed. Haines couldn’t help herself as she chimed in, “I personally travel for the beaches.”
Goldberg spent a good few seconds trying to compose herself from this blunder before apologizing, “I’m sorry, it says beaches.” She then pointed at the crew, Teta in particular, as she says, “This is ya’lls fault and I can’t even tell you why it’s their fault but we were talking about something else.” Goldberg was quick to change the topic, asking her co-hosts the question about traveling and the survey.
Navarro doesn’t hold back!
As Goldberg tries her best to move from her profanity-laden slip-of-tongue, looks like her co-hosts weren’t in the mood to let this blunder go. Navarro, who is normally quite composed and level-headed, responded to Goldberg’s question about the survey with another blunder-filled response, “I will travel anywhere for a couple of b*tches,” and Goldberg responds with a sarcastic “Thanks” since her co-hosts were absolutely no help.
