According to an announcement made by Robertson's longtime manager Jared Levine, The Band's guitarist was surrounded by loved ones.
The post announcing his death stated, "Robbie was surrounded by his family at the time of his death, including his wife, Janet, his ex-wife, Dominique, her partner Nicholas, and his children Alexandra, Sebastian, Delphine, and Delphine’s partner Kenny."
It further added, "He is also survived by his grandchildren Angelica, Donovan, Dominic, Gabriel, and Seraphina. Robertson recently completed his fourteenth film music project with frequent collaborator Martin Scorsese, Killers of the Flower Moon."
The announcement concluded, "In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Six Nations of the Grand River to support a new Woodland Cultural Centre."
The 80-year-old who wrote songs like 'The Weight', 'Up on Cripple Creek', and 'The Night They Drove Ol' Dixie Down', among other hits by The Band, reportedly married his wife less than five months before he died. Here's everything you need to know about Janet, previously his girlfriend of four years.
Who was Robbie Robertson's wife?
Robbie Robertson got engaged to his girlfriend Janet Zuccarini in 2022 years after divorcing his wife and the mother of his three children, Dominique Bourgeois.
The legend tied the knot with Canadian journalist Dominique on March 24, 1968. The former couple had three children: daughters Alexandra and Delphine and son Sebastian. Dominique went away from the public eye after the pair divorced.
He got engaged to Janet, a Canadian restaurateur, entrepreneur, and Top Chef Canada judge, who had been his girlfriend since 2018, in March 2022. They were married less than five months before his death, as she revealed on her Instagram page.
"We got hitched," she captioned the sweet video where she announced it. "It seemed appropriate to post this little 3 min movie that @daniel_roher made for me as a birthday gift to @robbierobertsonofficial a few years ago."
'Match written in the stars'
Fans immediately called Robbie and Janet a "match written in the stars" and called their journey the "most beautiful love story." The "stunning" wife also often shared her love for him on her social media. In another post dedicated to her late husband, she wrote, "My number one...Happy Birthday."
'Partner and best friend'
Janet also posted a touching birthday message on Robbie's 80th birthday, which fell on July 5, a little over a month before his death. She described him as "my partner, best friend, and the man who makes every day a beautiful adventure."
She added in her sweet post, "I’m grateful to walk beside you on this incredible journey. From a young boy with big dreams to a rock legend who changed the world, your journey has been nothing short of extraordinary."
Janet's achievements, however, don't fall short in comparison to his. She is the founder and CEO of Gusto 54 Restaurant Group, a well-known hospitality brand with award-winning outlets across North America.
She was also on the Macleans' Power List 2023, as she announced on Instagram. According to her Linkedin profile, she has also received various other accolades and recognitions such as the Business Woman of the Year Award by ICCO, and she was an EY Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist.
