LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In 2020, Netflix stunned the world with its original movie ‘Extraction’ and made viewers realize that the streaming platform can make blockbusters to rival those being churned out by mainstream Hollywood studios. The movie turned out to be massively successful for the streaming platform and became one of Netflix’s most-watched movies of all time. But the story isn’t over and the streamer is set to take viewers on another enthralling journey with ‘Extraction 2’.
The movie takes place right after the events of the first film and confirms that Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) survived the attack that took place in the final few minutes. Rake fell into the river and never came out, but the trailer of the upcoming film has already revealed that Rake is alive and ready to kick a** again.
‘Extraction’ became a runaway success for Netflix because of its epic storytelling, high-octane action sequences, and impeccable performances. All eyes will be on Hemsworth once again and viewers will be expecting another solid performance from him. Let’s take a look at the cast of the upcoming movie.
Who stars in the Netflix film ‘Extraction 2’?
Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake
Chris Hemsworth reprises the role of Tyler Rake, a Black-ops mercenary, in the movie and will embark on a journey filled with a lot of dangerous situations. Hemsworth needs no introduction and has already established himself as one of the most extraordinary actors of this generation. The Aussie actor began his acting journey in 2002 when he was cast as King Arthur in the series 'Guinevere Jones’. He made his feature film debut with the 2009 movie ‘Star Trek’ in which he played the role of George Kirk. However, he achieved global recognition when he became a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in the 2011 movie ‘Thor’.
Since then, Hemsworth has played the superhero in eight movies, including ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’. Besides headlining MCU films as the 'God of Thunder', Hemsworth was also cast in other high-end ventures like ‘The Cabin in the Woods’, ‘Rush’, ‘Red Dawn’, ‘In the Heart of the Sea’, ’12 Strong’, and ‘Spiderhead’.
Golshifteh Farahani as Nik Khan
The Iranian-French actress stunned the world with her body of work in the Iranian entertainment industry and went on to feature in Ridley Scott’s ‘Body of Lies’ alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Russel Crowe. However, Iranian authorities believed that Farahani committed a crime by violating Islamic law by appearing in the movie without a hijab. Since 2009, she has not been allowed to return and work in Iran.
But it didn’t stop her from doing stupendous work around the world and has appeared in several hard-hitting dramas. In 2014, the actress was nominated for the Most Promising Actress accolade at the Cesar Awards for her performance in the movie ‘The Patience Stone’. Meanwhile, in 2017, she played the role of Shansa alongside Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’. She was recently seen in the French movie ‘Brother and Sister’ alongside Marion Cotillard.
Other actors featured in the movie include Olga Kurylenko (Mia), Adam Bessa (Yaz Khan), Tinatin Dalakishvili (Ketevan), Daniel Bernhardt (Konstantine), and more.
Directed by Sam Hargrave, ‘Extraction 2’ is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on June 16.
