WESTERLY, RHODE ISLAND: Being a celebrity comes with both benefits and drawbacks, and one of the significant challenges is the lack of privacy. While many fans show immense love and support for their favorite celebrities, there are instances where individuals cross boundaries and engage in inappropriate behavior.
A recent incident involved a Connecticut woman who was arrested for trespassing at Taylor Swift's mansion in Rhode Island. The police responded to a trespassing complaint at the singer's seaside estate after receiving a call on Monday, July 3, as per TMZ.
Who is Taylor Swift's stalker?
A 54-year-old woman named Kimberly Meyer was arrested by the police for trespassing at Swift's property, despite having been previously warned by Swift's security guard. The incident took place at Swift's home in Westerly, Rhode Island. Meyer was charged with willful trespassing and was released with the condition that she would not make any further attempts to trespass. She is scheduled to appear in court on July 14 for further legal proceedings.
However, on a phone call, Meyer told The Daily Beast that she went to Swift’s house to see if she was there and “having a party” but never intended to disturb the peace. “I was not there to harass, I was not there to stalk. None of that happened,” Meyer said. “If anything, I am her No. 1 fan.”
According to a source familiar with the situation, Swift was staying at the house during the holiday weekend when the incident occurred. However, it remains unclear whether she was present at the property at the exact time of the arrest.
This recent trespassing incident is not the first occurrence of people unlawfully entering Swift's properties. There have been notable instances in the past that involved people breaking into her houses.
One prominent incident took place in 2019 when an Iowa man was arrested near Swift's estate carrying items such as a bat, gloves, lock picks, and a crowbar. It was reported that he had expressed a desire to meet Swift. Additionally, in 2018, another trespasser broke into her New York City home. The person from Florida pleaded guilty to criminal contempt and attempted burglary and received a jail sentence.
