LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It’s difficult to win one game show in America but winning two is a feat that needs to be acknowledged and celebrated. Sharath Narayan was born to be a winner. The former ‘Jeopardy!’ champion has managed to win another game show called ‘The Chase’ that airs on ABC. Hosted by Sara Haines of ‘The View,’ the game show is where the common folks take on trivia pros.
The show welcomes three contestants each episode and features one 'chaser,' a trivia professional whose challenged to answer the most questions faster than the others. The latest episode of ‘The Chase’ saw Sharath and his teammates go up against Brad Rutter, former ‘Jeopardy!’ star who has won over $5.1 million in-game show earnings. However, Sharath ended up winning $110,000 in prize money on ‘The Chase’ and etched his name in the history books of another game show.
Who is Sharath Narayan?
Sharath Narayan is a resident of Chicago, Illinois who appeared on ‘Jeopardy!’ Teen Tournament back in 2016. Sharath has wrapped up his senior year at Vanderbilt University, where he studied on a full-ride scholarship and now has his eyes set on earning a PhD. He wishes to become a biology professor and is currently pursuing his PhD at Northwestern University until 2027. Sharath impressed everyone with his intelligence seven years ago when he won the ‘Jeopardy!’ Teen tournament led by the late host Alex Trebek.
Sharath ended up with just $1 more than his fellow competitor Alec Fischthal and later revealed that he strategically planned to put a wager that saw him take home a whopping $100,000. When asked about his plans to spend the money he won, Sharath revealed at the time, “I’d still like to go on a trip to Europe with my family (maybe Italy or Germany!), but the majority of it will probably go towards taxes and college tuition.”
‘Jeopardy!’ has changed since Sharath Narayan left
When Sharath appeared on ‘Jeopardy!’ the great Alex Trebek was still the host. But after his death, Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik have taken over the hosting duties. But Sharath’s impeccable ability to skim through his opponents remains unchanged. On ‘The Chase,’ Sharath got the better of Butter on pop culture questions surrounding topics such as 'The Bachelorette,' Venmo, and Silk Sonic. Sharath’s second game show victory is a testament to his intellect and after conquering ‘Jeopardy!’ And ‘The Chase,’ the young lad will surely be looking for a new challenge.
