HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA: The eponymous 'voice' of singers heard by the coaches on 'The Voice' usually sing in English. But Juliette Ojeda's Blind Audition surprised them.
Ojeda belted out a genre-blending song in Spanish. Her rendition was so unique that it had three of the coaches competing to have her on their team. None, though, was more eager than Gwen Stefani.
Juliette, who learned to play music by ear after listening to her father play salsa songs and mariachi performers on the radio, delivered a Spanish-language rendition of "Hopelessly Devoted to You."
Juliette hoped that the 'The Voice' coaches would see her ability to "be unique and take two completely different genres of music and make them my own."
The ferocious performance culminated in a Three-Chair Turn, with John Legend as the lone holdout — but even he was dancing when Juliette sang.
Which coach did Juliette Ojeda pick during 'The Voice' Season 24's Blind Audition?
Reba McEntire offered Juliette stage performance training in return for Spanish lessons, while Niall Horan used Juliette's status as a self-proclaimed "Directioner" in his pitch, claiming that the young singer was "about ready to blossom, and [he] would like to be there for that."
But, in the end, it was Gwen who issued what amounted to an ultimatum, and Juliette chose the seven-time Coach.
"She has that fire," Gwen stated of Juliette. "I fought so hard."
