NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: In a recent ‘Today’ episode, Hoda Kotb’s face dropped after Holly Palmieri, host of 'Today Show Radio' on SiriusXM, announced some major news on-air.
Kotb was in shock after Palmieri revealed that she is expecting her second child with her husband, Alfred. This major revelation was made on live TV by Palmieri. This prompted both Kotb and Savanna Guthrie to ask about her pregnancy journey.
Who is Holly Palmieri?
Palmieri anchors ‘Today Show Radio' and is also the SiriusXM radio show's program director. Holly Palmieri hosts the weekday mornings show on SiriusXM 108 and has been working for the last 16 years.
Palmieri also appears on the 'Today' show to chat with the hosts as the radio correspondent.
She holds a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration from Williman Howard Taft University and has also completed an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies, and Humanities from the State University of New York College.
She is a mother to one daughter, Helen, and has recently announced that she is expecting another child.
Why was Hoda Kotb shocked?
On Monday, August 14, the radio correspondent joyfully revealed her pregnancy news to Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie during a live segment.
Amid playful banter, Palmieri remarked on their attire, teasing that they looked ready for a gender reveal party.
She said, “You're in your pink and blue. You look like you're at a gender reveal party”. Guthrie and Kotb joined in the laughter, as Guthrie said, “Gender reveal. Two ladies! Cat's out of the bag for us."
However, things quickly took a sincere turn as Palmieri gently rubbed her stomach and shared, "Cat's out of the bag for a lot of us."
Guthrie and Kotb expressed their astonishment as Guthrie asked, “What?!” while Kotb looked stunned as she remained silent.
After a moment, Kotb asked, “Are you pregnant?”
Palmieri confirmed the news with a smile, leading to cheers and warm embraces from the hosts. She added that she hasn't learned the baby's gender yet.
She then light-heartedly noted the supportive environment, mentioning how the fluctuating nature of weight is overlooked at the show.
She said, “You know what I love? You can put 10 pounds on in 10 weeks here and everyone will act like they don't notice."
Both Kotb and Guthrie extended their congratulations as Kotb said, “They actually don't notice because everyone is up and down. Congratulations!”
Taking to social media, Palmieri later posted the joyful announcement along with her colleagues' reactions. She captioned the post, “New Today Show Radio correspondent, coming February 2024!”
