NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Despite the many achievements 'CBS Mornings' host Gayle King has under her bag, she has always been the most dedicated and loving mother to her children.
After separating from her husband long ago, while she was not alone in parenting her two children, King struggled a lot and despite that, she was successful in raising two well-settled adults.
King continues to be incredibly close to her children, especially her son William Bumpus Jr who is named after his father.
Who is William Bumpus Jr?
William Jr is King and Bumpus' younger child, born in 1987. He was born to the couple in Greenwich, Connecticut where his father continues to reside.
He went on to study at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where he completed his BA in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies and Psychology, per his alumni profile.
After this, he earned an MBA from Stanford, studying there from 2015 to 2017, and has been residing in Santa Monica with his dog, Scott, after leaving his parents' home.
Not much is known about his romantic life but in a recent set of photos shared by King, a previously-unseen woman joined her family vacation besides her daughter Kirby, her son-in-law, and William Jr himself. The pictures implied that she was William Jr's partner as the two were quite intimate with each other.
That was the first ever public appearance of any partner William Jr has ever had if she is indeed so. An official reveal about the woman's name is yet to be made.
However, the two looked happy together and she already looked well-acquainted with the family. William Jr does not have an Instagram account that is accessible to the public so King seems like the one who would be launching any news about her son's romantic status.
William Bumpus Jr is the godson of Oprah Winfrey
It is no secret that King and Oprah Winfrey share one of the most precious friendships in the industry. Going back 40 years, they have known each other for longer than some of their family members and their bond goes beyond anything between friends, sisters, or soulmates.
Therefore, it only made sense for King to give the godmother rights for William Jr to Winfrey.
William Jr is currently working for a not-for-profit organization called reWerk which was founded by him three years ago. According to his profile on the website, he is responsible for reWerk’s business operations.
Apart from this, he also identifies partners and companies who wish to donate equipment or tech to underserved communities. He works towards "finding ways to close opportunity gaps that exist for communities of color," according to his profile on Concrete Rose.
