CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Deryck Whibley's wife Ariana Cooper revealed on Friday, September 15, that the Sum 41 frontman has been hospitalized due to pneumonia.
The 32-year-old professional model took to Instagram to share an update on the Toronto-born musician's health and posted a photo of him being transported on a gurney into an ambulance.
Is Deryck Whibley OK?
Cooper opened up about Whibley's health condition following hospitalization. "Deryck and I were supposed to be in Chicago right now, celebrating our eight-year wedding anniversary but the universe had a different plan for us," Cooper wrote.
"We spent the entire night in the ER and will now be spending the next few days here in the hospital as he fights through pneumonia," she continued.
Speaking about Whibley's current health status, Cooper wrote, "The scariest part is that there is a lot of strain on his heart and they are telling us that there is a possibility of heart failure."
"This is obviously not our first time in a situation like this but it brings back a lot of really difficult memories seeing him back in a hospital bed connected to wires and IVs," she added.
"I know how strong he is because I have witnessed what he has been able to overcome but that doesn't make it any easier to see. I'll do my best to keep everyone updated but if you could keep him in your heart over the next few days, we could really use it," Cooper concluded her post.
How many children do Deryck Whibley and Ariana Cooper have?
Whibley and Cooper who tied the knot in 2015 in Los Angeles share two children, three-year-old son Lydon Idby and six-month-old daughter Quentin Arlo.
This is not the first health scare the father-of-two has faced. He was previously placed in a coma in April 2014 and was sedated for a week to facilitate detoxification.
Following this episode of liver and kidney failure and Cooper's depression and suicide attempt, the pair embarked on a journey to sobriety together.
"We said, 'We're going to take our lives seriously at this point and figure this s**t out,'" the singer said in 2021, reported People.
Why is Sum 41 disbanding?
In May 2023, the Canadian rock band Sum 41's members Whibley, Jason McCaslin, Frank Zummo, Dave Baksh, and Tom Thacker announced on social media that they were disbanding.
They revealed that following the release of the latest album 'Heaven and Hell' and their final show during the world tour, the member would go their separate ways, reported Daily Mail.
At the time, the 'Fat Lip' band issued a statement that read, "Being in Sum 41 since 1996 brought us some of the best moments in our lives. We are forever grateful to our fans both old and new, who have supported us in any way."
"It is hard to articulate the love and respect we have for all of you and we wanted you to hear this from us first," the statement added.
Sum 41 fans can still look forward to the band's performance at 'When We Were Young 2023' in Las Vegas in October. However, their final show is scheduled for September 23, 2024, in Nanterre, France, as announced by the band on their social media account recently as they revealed that all tickets had sold out.
