LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Britney Spears reportedly filed a police report for battery with Las Vegas police where she alleged that a San Antonio Spurs security member slapped her after she tried to nudge Victor Wembanyama. The bizarre incident took place at Catch restaurant which is located inside the ARIA Hotel. The pop icon was having her dinner at the restaurant with her husband and two friends when she allegedly saw the French professional basketball player entering the eatery.
Spears, who is reportedly a fan of the 19-year-old NBA star, approached him to ask if they could take a photo together but was unfortunately met with an unwelcoming attitude by Damian Smith, the director of Spurs security, who was accompanying the first overall pick by the San Antonio based NBA team this year.
Who is Damian Smith?
Damian Smith is the director of San Antonio Spurs security who allegedly backhanded Spears and caused her to fall on the ground, knocking her glasses off when she tried to approach Victor Wembanyama.
Spears returned to her table at that time, TMZ reported. The security, realizing his mistake, approached her to apologize, saying, "You understand how it is when you’re being swarmed by fans.” According to the outlet, the Princess of Pop accepted the apology but her own security detail spent some time talking to the Spurs’ guards before the two decided to go their separate ways.
Spears has allegedly filed a police report
In the wake of the incident, Spears has allegedly filed a police report for battery with the LA authorities but it is not being treated as a criminal matter. However, TMZ mentioned that it is a criminal investigation and the police are making the incident "as serious as a heart attack." It is also reported sources close to the outlet reviewed security camera footage and alleged that while Smith pushed Britney's hand away, it was apparently her hand, not Smith's, that struck her face. The authorities did not address the velocity of the force of the swing.
However, police determined that the attack was not intentional and Smith was trying to protect Wembanyama, rather than hurt the iconic singer. Notably, no one got injured in the incident.
