PASADENA, CALIFORNIA: Young artists often impress the most when compared to adults, and the same is about to happen in 'America's Got Talent' Season 18. Twin brothers who are mixed martial arts fighters are about to astonish the judges, Heidi Klum, Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, and Howie Mandel, with their extraordinary skills. These twin kids have specialized in martial arts, acting, and modeling.
Seeing these two become a sensation at such a young age will undoubtedly be surprising. However, it remains to be seen whether 'AGT' is the stage where the twins' talent will be praised and if they move ahead in the competition. As we await the release of the new episode, let us take a closer look at who the 'Twinjas' are.
Who are the 'Twinjas'?
The 'Twinjas' are 6-year-old twin brothers, who are identical twins. They are named Oliver and Jonathan. They proudly refer to themselves as "Twin Fighters & Young Gentlemen" in their online profile. They earned the nickname "Twinjas" due to their passion for martial arts and the fun antics typical of identical twins. Their father, Steven Ho, is a renowned athlete, known for his role as 'Donatello' in the original 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' films. Ho is also a frequent guest on Conan O'Brien's show. Jonathan and Oliver's interest in martial arts was sparked by their skilled father. The twins used to visit their dad on film sets and spent time seeing him perform as a stuntman and a fighter.
Johnny and Oliver began their martial arts journey at the tender age of 4. With the guidance of their mentor, Gavin Teragawa, they have become proficient in 'BJJ' (Brazilian jiu-jitsu) and 'MMA' (Mixed Martial Arts). When not honing their skills in the dojo, these young brothers indulge in various hobbies. They delight in collecting Pokemon cards, cooking alongside their mother, engaging in outdoor activities like digging for worms and creating content for their social media platforms.
Twin brothers inspired by Bruce Lee
In an interview with Elite Sports, Johnny and Oliver expressed their admiration for Bruce Lee, who served as a great source of inspiration for them. Looking ahead to the next 3-5 years, the twins shared their aspirations saying, they "want to win Pan Kids," and were "working hard to achieve that goal." They also wanted to meet new people who are part of the jiu-jitsu wrestling world. Johnny and Oliver are committed to their goal and dedicate themselves to training 4 to 5 days a week. Oliver emphasizes the significance of continuous practice in excelling at martial arts, while Johnny stresses the importance of putting in full effort. Curious about the equipment they carry? They revealed their gym essentials. Oliver carries boxing gloves, a Bruce Lee doll, shin guards, and a mouthpiece, while Jonathan has Pokémon cards, boxing gloves, shin guards, and a mouthguard in his bag.
'Twinjas' support SAG and WGA strikes
Johnny and Oliver, who will be appearing on 'AGT' soon, recently shared a photo on Instagram, expressing their solidarity with the SAG and WGA strikes. In the caption, they stated, "In full solidarity with the SAG and WGA strikes, we stand alongside our fellow actors and writers in their pursuit of fair treatment." They added, "The actors' film and scripted television projects are separate from SAG-AFTRA’s Network Television Code, which covers unscripted programs such as talk shows, game shows, broadcast news, and reality competition shows like AGT. Per the SAG/AFTRA strike release found at sagaftrastrike.org, we are free and encouraged to work on such shows when possible. Thank you for your support."
'America’s Got Talent' Season 18 airs Tuesday nights at 8 pm ET/PT on NBC.
