NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: TV personality and meteorologist Al Roker, who was reportedly missing from the ‘Today’ show, recently revealed the real reason behind his absence. The weather news reporter shared his exciting new gig as he flew to Detroit, Michigan, for it.
During this week, ‘Today’ host Al Roker was reportedly missing from the show's Wednesday and Thursday broadcasts, and weekend meteorologist Angie Lassman filled in for him. While he was away from the New York studio, his co-hosts Sheinelle Jones, Dylan Dreyer, and Craig Melvin also skipped ‘Today 3rd Hour’. However, Dreyer appeared through a video later on in the show, while Vicky Nguyen filled in for the missing anchors.
What’s Al Roker’s new exciting project?
Roker took to Instagram to inform his followers about his upcoming trip to Detroit for a special speaking engagement at Ted Talk Connections. The talk is focused on climate change. Expressing his excitement, he said that this would be his first-ever Ted Talk. “Well, I'm here at LaGuardia waiting for my flight to Detroit," he told his followers, adding, "I'm going to be speaking tomorrow at Ted Talk Connections about climate change.”
Roker continued, “I'm really excited about this. It will be my first Ted Talk ever. And we'll have a complete report on it on Today and keep you posted as to when this is going to be live for you to check out.” He concluded, “I'm really, really excited about it. And we will see you later and to all my friends at WDIV, coming to see you as well. We're going to be on tomorrow morning and hanging out at Local Four.”
Later in the day, Roker shared photos of himself with Rhonda Walker and Jason Colthorp from the local NBC affiliate WDIV, where they engaged in a weather segment together. During a recent break from the morning show, Roker enjoyed a vacation with his wife Deborah Roberts, and their son Nick. Roker shared snapshots of a father-son lunch date at a retro diner in New York. The pictures showcased the duo posing outside the diner and smiling at the camera while sitting inside, with their plates filled with sandwiches and French fries.
