LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ryan Gosling and BTS star Jimin have something in common: they both rocked the same black and white fringed shirt. But while Jimin wore it first in a music video, Gosling wore it for his role as Ken in the new 'Barbie' movie.
Apparently, Gosling decided to give Jimin a special gift. Jimin, who released his debut solo album 'Face' in March, first wore the shirt in 2021 for BTS’ 'Permission to Dance' music video. Gosling, meanwhile, sports the look in Greta Gerwig’s new film, which also stars Margot Robbie and is set to hit theaters on Friday.
What is the 'priced possession' Ryan Gosling gifted BTS singer Jimin?
The prized possession is the guitar from Gosling's film. In a video posted on the 'Barbie' Twitter account, Gosling explained his gesture to Jimin. “Hi, Jimin. It’s Ryan Gosling here. I noticed that your ‘Permission to Dance’ outfit was the same as my Ken outfit in the upcoming movie Barbie,” he said before adding “I have to give it to you — you wore it first, you definitely wore it best and there’s an unspoken Ken code that if you bite another Ken’s style, you have to give them your most prized possession.”
He continued, “So… I hope you’ll accept Ken’s guitar as my humble offering. Besides, Ken doesn’t really play anyway, so, it’ll be much better in your hands.” He added that he was a fan of BTS and their collaboration with Coldplay on 'My Universe'.
This is not the first time that a BTS member has received a guitar
This is not the first time that a BTS member has received a guitar from a famous musician. In December 2021, as per Page Six, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin gave Jin his guitar after the K-pop star complimented the instrument. “I was so happy. After our collaboration, we had a chance to see him again in the US,” Jin told GQ Australia. “When just the two of us were in the studio, I said to him, ‘Hey, your guitar’s cool.’ I mean, I’m such a big fan. Honestly, everything about him is cool. But he suddenly handed the guitar over, saying it was a gift.” Jin said he was stunned by Martin’s generosity and kindness. “I hadn’t been implying anything with my comment. Even in my dazed state, I was so excited I didn’t know how to respond,” he said. The two first met when BTS and Coldplay collaborated on the No. 1 hit 'My Universe.
'I hope Jimin sees the video and responds to it!'
"I hope Jimin sees the video and responds to it!" fans reacted to the video. "Looking forward to Jimin playing the guitar!" wrote another fan. "I need to see Jimin with the guitar immediately,' one more fan wrote. "WE LOVE TO SEE IT!," one more wrote. Many social media users reacted with "OMGGG" and heart emojis.
