TOKYO, JAPAN: PewDiePie and CinnamonToastKen, were recently seen discussing Colleen Ballinger's controversial apology video. The YouTuber best known for her character, Miranda Sings, faced a lot of backlash for her apology video in which she chose to sing a song to refute the allegations brought against her. Naturally, the video went viral on the Internet, with fellow YouTubers reacting to it and pointing out why Ballinger's move wasn't appropriate.
PewDiePie and CinnamonToastKen also had some frank comments to share on her apology video, which they are seen sharing in a recent video uploaded by the latter on July 5. As a YouTuber, PewDiePie has consistently produced in his career, spanning nearly 12 years. But in a June 29 video, the creator announced that he would be taking a break from making further content for his primary channel. However, it seems that he still communicates with his online friends, as he made an appearance in Ken's video. So, keep reading to know what the duo had to say about Ballinger's apology.
'It was such a YouTuber move'
During the duo's conversation, Ken was the one to bring up the topic of Ballinger's video, asking PewDiePie, "What advice would you give someone if they have these allegations and they wanted to address them?" The 33-year-old YouTuber with over 111 million followers on the platform responded, "I would not pull out a ukulele." He went on to explain that uploading an apology video of singing a song contesting the claims didn't excuse her from the accusations. Moreover, PewDiePie discussed YouTube culture, mentioning how Ballinger had a public marriage as well as a divorce. "I remember she made such a stinker about getting married like it was such a YouTuber move," the former YouTube king said. However, both Ken and PewDiePie agreed that getting canceled quickly is fairly common nowadays.
Ken elaborated on how he used to respond to fans and that he is now afraid to do so because of facing backlash. He even admitted to meeting his wife through his former Facebook fan page. However, at this time, he would not reply to any stranger at this point. PewDiePie was seen agreeing with his fellow YouTuber's assertion, with both expressing that Ballinger might have communicated her feelings in a more effective manner rather than singing a song, which was seen as a reckless move by many.
'We need a apology tutorial by pewds'
Fans were soon to comment about their views on the duo's conversation. A user wrote, "Felix would never pull out a ukulele for an apology video. He'd use a tambourine," while another stated, "When Felix said "I never liked her" i felt so validated in my opinion of this woman." "The dads of the internet chatting about the unhinged aunt," wrote one in jest, pointing to Ballinger claiming that she was like an awkward aunt, with a user adding, "We need a apology tutorial by pewds."
