‘Your persona doesn’t shout intellectual’
A few years ago, psychologist Jordan Peterson appeared on Rogan's podcast and made a subtle remark about his fame. He admitted that he was new to the YouTube community and that he used to post little videos first thing in the morning. He said that Rogan "asks all the stupid questions he can think up."
Speaking about Rogan's meteoric rise in popularity, Peterson said, "You're obviously riding a big wave like you prophesied this 15 years ago," adding that Rogan was an inquisitive interviewer who persists in pursuing goals that were important to him.
Peterson said that Rogan was much brighter than he appeared. "You are a weird combination because you know your persona doesn’t shout intellectual but you’re damn smart and tough as a bloody boot," he said.

Joe Rogan’s controversial moments
When Rogan stated on his show in April 2021 that healthy individuals did not require Covid-19 vaccination, he recieved a lot of flak. “I think for the most part, it's safe to get vaccinated. I do. But if you're like 21 years old and you say to me, 'Should I get vaccinated?' I'd go, "No.'...If you are a healthy person and you're exercising all the time and you're young and you're eating well, I don't think you need to worry about this,” he said.
Rogan's statements resulted in so much public outcry that White House representatives had to publicly denounce the podcaster's remarks. The podcaster later explained his position, claiming he was not anti-vaxxer.
Rogan also slammed trans MMA fighter Fallon Fox. Fox “She calls herself a woman but I tend to disagree. She used to be a man but now she has had, she’s a transgender.. And she wants to be able to fight women in MMA. I say no f*****g way. I say if you had a d**k at one point in time, you also have all the bone structure that comes with having a d***," he said. Many slammed him for being transphobic.
