LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer' are all the craze right now in the movie world and it seems that the former's rampant marketing has finally caught on with 'Good Morning America'. The morning show's set included the iconic Barbie box, and Ginger Zee, the ABC meteorologist couldn’t help but bring her inner Barbie out.
The 42-year-old ‘GMA’ host made the most of the Barbie box installed in the studio and posed inside the huge pink box, dressed in a bright pink dress that matched the theme of the show. Ginger wasn’t far behind to express her desire to be a part of the Barbie film, posting a picture on Instagram, stating in the caption that she “could definitely double for “Weird Barbie”.” Although Kate McKinnon plays the role of Weird Barbie in the film, if it was left up to Ginger, she would take up the role in a heartbeat.
Ginger Zee is struck by Barbie fever
‘GMA’ recently kicked off an all-important week by joining the Barbie fever that seems to have struck the entire entertainment world. On Monday, Kate McKinnon and Michael Cera also guest-starred in the show to promote the film as the show also aired a pre-taped interview with leading stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. The studio was colored pink to honor the film and it featured a huge Barbie box with a small bow that read, “She’s having the best day.”
Ginger expressed her excitement for the film's release as she was all decked up in a pink dress and clicked photos of herself in the Barbie box. The ‘GMA’ meteorologist struck different poses, standing goofily on one leg, smiling, and enjoying herself while pretending to be Barbie. Ginger captured all the fun in an Instagram post and shared a string of photos with her followers. She wrote, “@samwnek thinks I could definitely double for “weird Barbie” (character played by Kate McKinnon in @barbiethemovie ) — I agree. The only @barbie I would want to be.”
Fans call Ginger Zee ‘Meteorologist Barbie’
Ginger’s inherent love for Mattel’s doll was on display in her post. The ‘GMA’ host couldn’t stop grinning like a little girl who just fulfilled her dream of playing Barbie. As soon as her post went up, fans and followers took note of her raging enthusiasm for the doll. ‘Barbie’ movie is said to feature multiple versions of the character. Taking that into consideration, one user called Ginger, “Meteorologist Barbie” while another named her “Climate Change Barbie,” owing to her continuous coverage of important climate change-related matters. A third rechristened Ginger as, "Stunning Weather-Person Barbie,” and a fourth called her, "Storm Chaser Barbie.. facing Cat4 hurricanes and looking Dad while doing it,” later correcting it to “fab.” A fifth person also praised Ginger and stated, “They do the Inspiring Women series and you’d be a good one for it! I know I’d get my kids one.” A fan also suggested a new Barbie can be invented, asking, “Why not just call it a Ginger doll?”
