NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘Today’ show's rare fill-in, Peter Alexander, recently replaced three of the main hosts of the NBC show, namely Craig Melvin, Hoda Kotb, and Savannah Guthrie, who were absent on Tuesday.
While Guthrie and Kotb had been missing from ‘Today’ for quite some time, Melvin was nowhere to be seen on Tuesday’s broadcast.
The host’s absence was filled in by a surprising ‘Weekend Today’ host, Peter Alexander who joined Sheinelle Jones in place of Melvin, Guthrie, and Kotb.
Meanwhile, Guthrie recently revealed her whereabouts in an Instagram post. She shared a picture of her family attending the US Open 2023. She captioned the post, “Beautiful first night at US Open! Thank you team.”
Where are ‘Today’ missing hosts?
Both Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb were absent on Monday and were temporarily replaced by Craig Melvin and Kristen Welker, the other ‘Weekend Today’ co-anchor.
However, Melvin was also absent on Tuesday, leaving a gap in the hosting lineup. Usually, Melvin joins Guthrie and Kotb about 30 minutes into the program, but on Tuesday, Jacob Soboroff stepped in as a substitute.
Guthrie has been away for over a week, while Kotb began her vacation this week. The exact return dates for both hosts remain unclear.
Melvin plays a significant role not only in joining the anchors during the main show but also as one of the hosts of ‘Today 3rd Hour’.
Typically, he co-hosts this segment with Jones, Al Roker, and Dylan Dreyer. However, on this occasion, Soboroff took on double duty and filled in for Melvin during the third hour.
Jones warmly welcomed viewers, saying, "Good morning and welcome to the Third Hour of Today. I'm Sheinelle, here with Al and Dylan. Jacob is here this morning, in for Craig. Good morning to all you guys.”
Craig Melvin’s family time
In a recent Instagram post, Craig Melvin revealed his whereabouts as he posted a snap featuring his wife, Lindsay Czarniak, and children, Delano and Sybil.
The photo captured the family all smiling and excited as the NBC host and his wife send off their children on the first day of the next grade.
While Delano is all set to enter fourth grade, Sybil is commencing first grade. Melvin captioned the post, “Well…they’re off. We have a first and fourth grader. Yes, that’s a boot on Delano. Long story.”
