LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: NBC's 'Today' show hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager charm their audiences with a mix of heartwarming stories and a daily dose of inspiration, laughter and insightful discussion. But this time, things went a little too far during a segment when Jenna Bush Hager was seen repeating an NSFW word on live TV.
The on-air blunder occurred Wednesday, June 21, when 'Today' hosts Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb played 'What's the Name of This Game Again?" hosted by Today's associate producer Sean Hickey. He asked the TV personalities competing questions, but on one question, Jenna's answer sounded similar to a swear word. As is customary with the rules of the game, you're only allowed to give the correct answer once, but even then Jenna repeated the same answer, which led to Kotb getting angry when she scolded Jenna for using NSFW word live on air.
‘Stop saying that’
During a recent segment, ‘Today’ star Hoda Kotb notably lashed at co-host Jenna Bush Hager for inadvertently cursing on-air. Kotb, 58, and Jenna, 41, participated in the morning show’s game segment called, ‘What’s the Name of This Game Again?’ hosted by Sean Hickey. The game went smoothly initially until Hickey asked, “What’s the name of that movie?” He presented the clues, "Queen Latifah, she's like an ex-con? moves into Steve Martin's house, and falls in love with dad from 'Schitt's Creek.’” The given clues described the plot of the movie ‘Bringing Down The House.’ While Kotb remained deep in thought, silently contemplating the correct answer, her co-host Jenna, expressed her astonishment with some aspects of the movie's plot by exclaiming, "She falls in love with the father from Schitt's Creek!" The role of the father in the sitcom series 'Schitt's Creek' was played by actor Eugene Levy, aged 76.
Jenna repeated it once more, aiming for a heightened dramatic impact, which caught the attention of both Hoda and Hickey. Hoda screamed, “Stop saying that you only get one time” followed by Hickey who reiterated that she could say ‘Schitt’s Creek’ only once.
S**t or Schitt?
The term 'Schitt's' in 'Schitt's Creek' bears a striking resemblance to the word "s**t" Jenna's pronunciation reinforced the similarity, leading to distinct reactions from Sean and Hoda. Neither Hoda nor Jenna knew the correct answer, which was 'Bringing Down The House,' resulting in neither of them receiving a point. In the end, Jenna emerged as the clear winner with six points, while Hoda only received two. Jenna's prize for winning was a framed photo of Sean, who hosted the 'What's the Name of This Game Again?' segment in an earlier episode. Although this time Hoda and Sean managed to save Jenna from making a mistake on the show, they weren't always successful in their rescue attempts.
