NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘Today’ host Craig Melvin called out meteorologist Al Roker for playfully teasing him with scissors on live TV.
On Wednesday’s ‘Today’ Show episode, hosts Al Roker, Craig Melvin, and Dylan Dreyer welcomed guest Kate McGuire, a British entrepreneur, and sustainable fashion advocate who gave some tips on second-hand shopping.
The NBC journalist Melvin recently returned to the morning show from his mini-vacation. He was absent on Monday and Tuesday but came back on Wednesday as he filled in for co-host Savannah Guthrie.
Even last week, Melvin went missing from the show. However, at the time Roker revealed that he took a break to interview NBC Hall of Fame inductee Dwayne Wade.
Why did Craig Melvin blast Al Roker?
During a recent ‘Today’ Show episode, guest Kate McGuire shared techniques to rejuvenate worn-out garments, including the strategy of tailoring T-shirts to enhance their fit and appeal.
‘Today’ host Sheinelle Jones joked, “Now where was this at the Beyonce concert?” She continued, “I was trying to make the Renaissance T-shirt look cute.”
As shown in a video posted by The Sun, Al Roker chimed in as he walked to a table behind the hosts, “Hold on just a second, wait, hold on.” Jones inquired, “What, what?”
Roker continued as he took the scissors and approached Craig Melvin, “Let me see how it works.”
In response, Melvin screamed, "STOP IT!" as he quickly moved away from Roker. He again shouted, “Cut it out!”
Although Roker teased Melvin, he giggled and stepped back following his playful prank. Melvin admitted with a grin, “I was getting a little nervous.”
Towards the end of the segment, Melvin playfully picked up a pair of scissors and mimicked a light-hearted "stabbing" motion towards Roker.
Craig Melvin’s family vacation
Earlier this week, the mystery surrounding Craig Melvin's absence from the morning show was revealed by his wife, Lindsay Czarniak.
In an Instagram post, Czarniak shared that the family took some well-deserved time together for a retreat in the Catskills. The photos showcased the family enjoying quality time, roasting marshmallows for s'mores, and relaxing in a hammock.
She captioned the post, “Everyone needs s’more time to be together. Recharged after a long weekend away with the fam.” In the hashtags, she revealed the location to be the Catskills mountain belt in New York.
The snapshot captured Melvin standing outdoors alongside Czarniak and their two children, Delano and Sybil. With wine glasses in hand, Melvin and Czarniak joined their kids in holding up marshmallows on sticks, ready for the delightful ritual of roasting s'mores.
Subsequent photos portrayed moments of delight as Delano and Sybil playfully blew on their marshmallows and removed them from the sticks.
The series of pictures concluded with a heartwarming selfie featuring Melvin and Czarniak, cozily positioned in front of the flickering fire.
