NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘Today’ meteorologist Al Roker has returned with his antics as he mocked a peer on the morning show. This time, Steve Kornacki was his innocent victim after the correspondent made a slight change in his appearance on the show.
The 69-year-old weatherman took a playful jab at Kornacki after witnessing him wearing something different other than his usual “khakis.”
Roker was taken aback by this sudden change in appearance and was at a loss for words before asking Kornacki whether he only had “one pair” of khaki pants to his name.
‘Today’ Al Roker mocks correspondent Steve Kornacki for not wearing ‘khakis’
The ‘Today’ meteorologist got together with co-hosts Sheinelle Jones and Craig Melvin to discuss football on the show.
After the segment about the NFL season's September kickoff, Roker pivoted the show to correspondent Kornacki. However, Al was surprised and went mum when he tried to introduce Kornacki.
He mumbled something and was silent for a moment. Craig and Sheinelle Jones were also visibly shocked and were seen exchanging surprised whispers.
Al explained that he was taken aback by what he saw. He said, "I'm completely thrown off because there are no khakis on Kornacki.”
"They're at the cleaners," Kornacki, who was wearing gray pants instead of his usual khakis, laughed. This prompted Roker to ask, "Do you only have one pair?"
Kornacki jokingly asked if he could have an "indulgence" for another pair. Following this, the segment continued in its regular format as Kornacki launched into his predictions for the Chiefs vs Lions football game.
After this short playful exchange between Roker and Kornacki, the rest of the show went on smoothly.
However, Roker is renowned for his mischievous ways and was recently shunned by a producer to “stay silent” on the set.
‘Today’ Al Roker was reprimanded by producer for causing trouble
A producer of the show had to reprimand Roker recently after he unintentionally interrupted the broadcast of the show.
Al decided to give his Instagram followers a behind-the-scenes look and show them the space he shared with Melvin and Hoda Kotb.
Excitedly, he wanted to showcase the rotating set to his fans but just as he geared up to demonstrate, the broadcast rolled into a news segment.
Al started speaking in hushed tones but a producer, noticing the disturbance, approached the 69-year-old and explained to him the segment that was going on.
Roker explained to his viewers that it was a segment by Anne Thompson for MSNBC. As he continued to show the cameras and the chaotic behind-the-scenes of a studio, he said, with a slightly perturbed expression, "There's a lot going on."
However, in the end, he was able to show viewers the rotating set before launching into his segment.
