LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Henry Cavill is all set to grace screens as Geralt of Rivia for one last time. It is safe to say Cavill has always loved this role and fans are emotional over seeing him for the final time on Netflix's 'The Witcher' Season 3.
Even though audiences loved seeing Cavill play Geralt and want him to stay in the series after Season 3 as well, they will be interested to know that he was not always the first choice to play the character. In fact, Cavill was almost not chosen to play this role.
Why was Henry Cavill turned down initially?
Cavill maintained that he was rejected for the role more than once and was declared as not the right choice. After facing rejection so many times, the actor had almost given up on trying further and did not have any hope left to work as the lead actor on 'The Witcher'. However, the creator of the hit Netflix series eventually decided to accept Cavill once they realized no other actor they screened managed to embody the charm of Geralt.
Even though Cavill was excited about landing the role, he also had bittersweet feeling about his selection. Fandomwire reported Cavill saying, "Yeah so once they’ve exhausted all their options they’re like ‘I guess we’ll go back to that guy.'" However, it was his dedication to the character and his knowledge of the source material that aided his depiction more effectively.
Henry Cavill's last adventure as Geralt
Despite playing the character for three seasons Cavill will not reprise his role as Geralt of Rivia in 'The Witcher' Season 4. He has gladly handed over the mantle to Liam Hemsworth, who will be seen playing the central character of the series. Fans have a bittersweet feeling about Cavill not playing the role anymore. They still believe that he embodied the character perfectly solely because of his respect towards the books.
'The Witcher' has garnered a massive fan following because of the books and video games. It was eventually Cavill's dedication to the role that cemented the series' reputation. It took a lot from Cavill's end to be finalized for the role of the brooding warrior and soon, he became a fan favorite. With 'The Witcher' Season 3 Volume 1 set to return on June 29, fans are excited to see how Geralt acknowledges his fear this time.
