LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: AMC is all set to show its audiences the journey of their favorite zombie hunters, Maggie (played by Lauren Cohan) and Negan (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan). They are traveling to a post-apocalyptic Manhattan that is filled with anarchy from its own set of survivors in the new spin-off show 'The Walking Dead: Dead City'. Maggie and Negan are an unlikely duo here, given that Negan was responsible for killing Glenn (played by Steven Yeun) with his trademark weapon 'Lucille'.
Glenn's death was one of the most brutal ones in 'The Walking Dead', so it is unlikely of Maggie to team up with Negan to rescue her son from the newest antagonist of the spin-off 'Dead City'. However, the major twist here is that Negan knows who 'The Croat' (played by Zeljko Ivanek) is, the new villain of the plot, who happens to be terrorizing the survivors of Manhattan.
Who is 'The Croat'?
The official trailer of 'The Walking Dead: Dead City' reveals Croat as the notorious new antagonist of the show, who kidnaps Hershel. While nothing is known about Croat's life prior to the apocalypse, given that he is leading a group of raiders it can be said that he has done what is needed to survive in the post-apocalyptic world. However, he is referred to as a 'psycho' by the remaining survivors of the island.
The Croat is not one of those people who would easily let anyone come in and go from the island and Maggie has been assured of that by the remaining survivors. He certainly is known for making the lives of people around him difficult. As per Fandom, 'The Croat' is one of the six former Saviors who have been confirmed to be alive. The others are Negan Smith, Sherry, Gracie, Dwight, and Eugene Porter.
Maggie and Hershel's exploration
'The Walking Dead' series finale witnesses Maggie talking about exploring outside their communities with Carol (played by Melissa McBride) and Daryl (played by Norman Reedus). Perhaps, she and Hershel started scouting for other communities, when she ran into The Croat. The official trailer of the show depicts The Croat facing Maggie, which is a probable indication that she is no longer at Hilltop and is ready to have her next adventure.
‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’ will start airing on June 18, 2023, on AMC and AMC+.
