NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' host Whoopi Goldberg has made a bombshell offscreen confession that has reiterated her constantly being opinionated. While Whoopi has been subjected to enough controversies in the past by being a part of this show, she is finally seeking a different opportunity.
With the announcement of Pat Sajak's retirement from 'Wheel of Fortune', Whoopi has expressed her interest in being the host of this popular gameshow. His retirement has succeeded in igniting a much-needed conversation about his replacement. She acknowledged that commercial opportunities are very rare for 'The View' hosts so she made her intentions known to the audiences and the producers alike in an off-camera confession.
Is Whoopi Goldberg done with 'The View'?
Whoopi reportedly addressed the audience, co-hosts, and the producers of the show by saying, "It would be fun to host Wheel of Fortune." She further explained, "There are no politics on game shows," as per The Sun. She revealed that brands are wary of approaching 'The View' panel because of the things they say on TV. She said, "The downside to [hosting on The View] is [the panel] doesn't get any brands approaching us to do commercials because of [things we say on TV.] I would love to host the game show."
While all the executive producers and her co-hosts Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin along with Alyssa Farah Griffin agreed with her, she also clarified that being able to host 'Wheel of Fortune' would be special to her. She went ahead to say, "I would feel special if they moved Wheel of Fortune to NYC just for me."
Whoopi Goldberg has Ken Jenning's blessings
'The View' hosts engaged in a conversation with 'Jeopardy!' host Ken Jennings about taking over for Alex Trebek, which eventually led to a discussion on who would be a better replacement. Ken clarified that Pat was legendary as a gameshow host and said, "Well, Pat's a legend. Over 40 years, and the price of a vowel has not gone up one penny."
With the discussion continuing on the possible replacements, Joy excitedly mentioned about Whoopi's interest in being a gameshow host and said, "Whoopi wants to do it." Whoopi jumped into the conversation and immediately said, "I want that job!" To which Ken's response was, "Well, there you go, we figured it out." She further added, "I think it would be lots of fun." However, that did not stop Joy to joke about how she and Sara can be Vanna White and take turns in walking back and forth, just pointing at the letters.
