AUSTIN, TEXAS: They either married or moved on. When Season 1 'The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On' began, it created headlines, but did the risky idea succeed for any of the couples?
The Netflix show follows eight couples on the verge of getting married.
After one of the partners was given an ultimatum, they began a trial marriage with one of their co-stars, living with a new spouse of their choosing from the show for three weeks.
They moved in with their previous significant other at the conclusion of the three-week period and must now decide whether they want to stay together and get engaged, depart alone, or pursue things with their trial marriage partner.
After exiting the show, here is what the 12 participants from Season 1 are up to.
Where are Madlyn Ballatori and Colby Kissinger now?
Fans were taken aback when Madlyn Ballatori and Colby Kissinger not only decided to get engaged, but to marry at the conclusion of 'The Ultimatum' process.
The couple's relationship was difficult in the series, and right before the proposal day, the couple got into a disagreement about Colby kissing a woman outside the experiment during the process.
Fans were even more surprised when Madlyn revealed that she was pregnant when she came to the reunion. Madlyn revealed on 'The Viall Files' podcast that producers urged her to share "positive" and "negative" things about Colby.
However, she wished she had complimented him more. Madlyn admitted that she did not "speak as kindly and openly about Colby as I feel like he did about me."
Madlyn also addressed the Episode 8 issue on the podcast, stating she understood why Colby kissed another woman but was upset he did not inform her sooner.
After their first child, Josephine Riley, was born in 2022, the couple is still married and was expecting their second.
Where are Shanique Imari and Randall Griffin now?
Randall Griffin proposed to his longtime love Shanique Imari in 'The Ultimatum' episode nine, and she accepted.
However, they disclosed in the reunion show that they had split up six months after the proposal. They reconciled prior to the reunion, but were no longer engaged.
Randall, on the other hand, told Women's Health in 2022 that the couple planned to move in together once the program premiered. In July, they got engaged, again!
Where are Alexis Maloney and Hunter Parr now?
Hunter Parr was the first contestant to propose to his girlfriend Alexis Maloney in 'The Ultimatum' Season 1 Episode 3.
Hunter had received the ultimatum from Alexis, but he was not sure whether he was ready to marry until the conclusion of the first week of filming the reality series.
The couple was still together throughout the reunion, and they got married in 2022.
According to People, the couple got married in June 2022 at Wayfarers Chapel and Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes, California.
According to their social media accounts, they are still together and have recently relocated to a new home.
Where are Nate Ruggles and Lauren Pounds now?
Nate Ruggles and Lauren Pounds were on the show due to a major disagreement: Nate desired numerous children, while Lauren did not.
Nate, on the other hand, followed Hunter's lead and proposed to his partner Lauren before they reached the trial marriage stage in Episode 3.
The proposal was criticized at the time by the couple's co-stars, since the couple had not resolved their issue with children.
Lauren said during the reunion that they had worked on their relationship off-screen and decided on one child.
The couple married in October 2022 and are still together. Lauren and Nate have both been dissatisfied with the way the program portrayed their relationship after exiting.
During an episode of the 'Your Poor Dad' podcast in 2022, the pair also stated that Nate never gave an ultimatum, as per the show's premise, but that a producer made it appear that way.
Lauren and Nate also expressed their dissatisfaction with the trial marriage procedure.
They said they were first notified about it during the shooting, and stated that they did not want to live with Colby and April Marie Melohn, with whom they were likely to be partnered.
Where is Zay Wilson now?
Zay Wilson went on to appear on another dating program, 'The Perfect Match', after leaving 'The Ultimatum' single.
Rae Williams stated in a 'Perfect Match' review YouTube video broadcast by Zachary Reality that Zay was approached for the new reality series shortly after filming 'The Ultimatum'.
This series gathered cast members from several Netflix dating shows together to see if they might find their perfect mate.
Unfortunately, Zay was unable to find a partner and had to leave the program alone. He seems to be single despite the fact that the episode premiered on Netflix earlier in 2023.
Where is Rae Williams now?
Rae and her first partner, Zay, split up before the season ended. During the reunion, Zay and Rae revealed that they tried dating again after filming ended, but it did not work out.
Rae revealed she was bisexual during the reunion and that she was seeing a woman.
Although it is unknown whether Rae is still seeing the same person, she recently stated on TikTok that she preferred to keep her relationships secret.
Where is Jake Cunningham now?
Despite the fact that Jake Cunningham left with Rae, it was revealed in the reunion episode that their relationship did not work out.
Jake has not posted about any new relationships on Instagram or TikTok since the series ended, which may suggest he was still single.
However, aside from Instagram stories, Jake has not consistently uploaded anything on the site since August 2022.
Where is April Marie Melohn now?
'The Ultimatum' Season 1 was challenging for April. She was the one who gave her partner, Jake, the ultimatum because she wanted to be a mother.
However, towards the conclusion of the episode, Jake still refused to marry April, and they split up.
April was in another serious relationship at the time the reunion was taped, which she discussed on her Instagram page.
She had been dating Cody Cooper, a realtor, for several months, and the couple is still together. In fact, April confirmed in February that she and her boyfriend just had their first child in August.
