NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: On June 27, Taylor Swift exuded effortless summer style as she made her way to the Electric Lady Studios in New York City. The 33-year-old singer-songwriter, currently on a major tour, donned a white eyelet blouse paired with a denim skirt.
Adding a touch of flair, she flaunted her long legs in a light wash jean skirt—a unique piece that looked like a skirt from the front but were actually shorts. The skort featured a front flap with a side tie at her hip. Taylor, who recently made headlines for breaking up with Joe Alwyn and then Matty Healy, opted for a bold red lip to complete her look.
Swift's signature girly style
To accentuate her ensemble, Taylor wore caramel-colored leather loafers with a stylish strap and buckle. Her eye-catching blouse boasted a deep V-neck with charming ruffle detailing along the collar and sleeve hems. The stark white top, adorned with an intricate eyelet pattern throughout, perfectly aligned with Swift's signature girly style. Her dirty blonde hair was elegantly pulled back, with her bangs framing her face in a flattering manner.
Completing her chic appearance, Taylor wore delicate dangling drop earrings featuring small bulbous pendants. She carried her belongings in a small, beaded, and woven orange and tan handbag with square handles. This outing followed a surprise performance in Minneapolis, where Taylor delighted fans by singing her song 'Dear John' for the first time in eleven years.
‘I want to own my music’
Since its release in 2010, ‘Dear John’ has sparked speculation that it was written about her past relationship with John Mayer, whom she had broken up with earlier that year. Determined to regain control of her music, Taylor has embarked on the journey of re-recording all her old albums, releasing new 'Taylor's Versions' that will grant her ownership rights.
During her recent Minneapolis show, Taylor expressed her motivation for this endeavor, stating, "I'm putting this album out because I want to own my music, and I believe any artist who desires to own their music should be able to.” Notably, Taylor had previously performed ‘Dear John’ live in 2012 during a concert in Auckland, New Zealand. Fans can look forward to the upcoming 'Taylor's Version' of 'Speak Now', which includes a fresh recording of ‘Dear John’ scheduled for release on July 7.
It's worth mentioning that John Mayer, who reportedly dated Taylor from December 2009 through February 2010, recently spoke about his own song ‘Paper Doll’, widely interpreted as a response to ‘Dear John’. During an April live show, as reported by Yahoo, Mayer addressed the song, pondering whether its reception was influenced by its slightly aggrieved tone. He expressed, “I don't like 'pi**ed off' as a song. I think it hurts more”. He added, “Is there something about it that's a little b****y? I try not to give bi***ness in the song and that happens sometimes. I guess I don't do it very well - sarcastic b***h.”
