NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Stray Kids has canceled their scheduled show at the Global Citizen Festival. Popular K-pop band members Hyunjin, Lee Know, and Seungmin were involved in a “minor” car crash and are unable to appear at the September 23 music festival, as per their management JYPE.
In their statement, the group shared, “While returning to their dorms after a schedule on September 20th (Wed), the vehicle carrying Stray Kids members Lee Know, Hyunjin, and Seungmin was involved in a minor collision."
“After the minor collision, Lee Know, Hyunjin, and Seungmin immediately visited a hospital and received a thorough medical examination,” it added.
Global Citizen's official account reposted the statement on X, formerly Twitter, along with the caption, "Our support goes out to the member of Stray Kids and our hearts are with Stays everywhere."
They further wrote, "We'll be joined on the Global Citizen Festival stage by Bang Chan, Changbin, and HAN, performing as 3RACHA.
Stray Kids reps confirm no one was seriously injured in 'minor' car accident
JYPE management gave an update on the accident over social media. After announcing the accident, their statement said, “None of the members and accompanying staff in the vehicle were seriously injured, but as they have sustained mild muscle pain and bruises, medical professionals have advised that they receive conservative treatment for the time being.”
JYPE further said, “3RACHA of Stray Kids (Bang Chan, Changbin, HAN) will perform at the Global Citizen Festival.”
“We apologize for causing fans to worry with such sudden news. JYPE will place the artists' health as the highest priority, and will provide everything we can to support their recovery,” concluded the statement
Global Citizen will take place this weekend in NYC’s Central Park and include performers such as Anitta, Jungkook of BTS, Ms Lauryn Hill, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. The other artists are Conan Gray, D-Nice, and Sofia Carson, per People.
Megan Thee Stallion too had taken her name back due to “unforeseen scheduling conflicts.”
Her representative said in a statement, “Due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict, Megan Thee Stallion will no longer be available to perform at the 2023 Global Citizen Festival.”
There is no ticket fee charged for music lovers and it aims to draw the attention of world leaders to make efforts to fight the climate crisis, bring about equity for women and girls, and fight poverty.
